owners have become role models, supporting themselves and their families whilst
passing on their knowledge, supporting a further 89 young people through
informal training. The businesses are performing well, with 70% of the
entrepreneurs left with disposable income and 47% having diversified to
establish further businesses. KATI has also created further employment
opportunities, with 84% of the businesses employing at least one additional
youth. The initiative has caused a stir locally, as a refreshing and exciting
alternative to traditional livelihood programmes. KATI was chosen as a winner
of the Youth Employment Network Marketplace Award 2013.
