Service Technician – TrueNorth

Job Title:   Service Technician

seeks to recruit for its valuable client, a leading provider of sustainable
productivity solutions. The Company sells and provides after sales support for
industrial compressors, gas and process compressors and expanders, air and gas
treatment equipment and air management systems in the Eastern Africa region.
Job Summary:  The Service Technician will support its
customers within Uganda by strengthening the business in Uganda by delivering
quality service to customers, improve customer satisfaction in the territory,
increase aftermarket and service presence.
Key Duties and Responsibilities: 
  • Identify, contact
    and visit all existing and potential customers within the territory.
  • Identify current
    fleet of equipment in Uganda and continuously update the same.
  • Audit the running
    conditions and the running hours of the fleet. On this basis and in
    conjunction with the Regional Aftermarket Engineer, prepare schedules and
    implement service activities as per recommend service requirements.
  • Support customers
    identify annual service parts and annual emergency parts that the customer
    could stock and follow for such orders.
  • Establish and
    maintain continuous communication with customers on inspection plans with
    proactive visit plans that will increase compressor availability and
    customer satisfaction.
  • Rapid response to
    breakdown and service request
  • Identify Inspection
    plan prospects and liaise/ advice the Regional Aftermarket Engineer
  • Guide customers on
    element overhauls and replacements, hose replacements, electrical parts
    replacement etc well in advance to reduce breakdowns and prepare the
    customer for budgeting purposes.
  • Works closely with
    customers for the purposes of securing sales of non-service parts and
    ancillary equipment such as line filters, water separators etc.
  • Collect and
    forward/handle information to allow follow up of technical and warranty
    issues.
  • Create a good
    rapport between the customers and the Company, thereby increasing customer
    penetration and market share.
  • Regularly provide
    market and competition intelligence.
  • Send daily reports
    of activities carried and activities to be carried (weekly plans)
Qualifications, Skills and Experience: 
  • The Service
    Technician should hold a Diploma in Mechanical or Electromechanical
    Engineering.
  • At least four years’
    experience in the maintenance of similar Equipment
  • Highly self-driven
  • Strong customer
    orientation
  • Health and Safety
    skills
  • Ability to travel
