Innovations for Poverty Action (IPA)
Uganda
(IPA), is an international non-profit research organization. Based in New
Haven, CT, with offices in Washington, D.C. and worldwide, IPA works with
development partners and academic researchers to create and evaluate approaches
to solving development problems, to communicate “what works” in development and
to scale up successful projects in a variety of fields, including health,
education, microfinance, governance and agriculture.
Regional Operations Manager will oversee and/or coordinate various phases of
operations, including Human Resources, Administration and Security and Safety
for Innovations for Poverty’s (IPA) offices in Africa. The incumbent will also
provide operational support to country office management teams to develop and
implement global initiatives including policies and procedures to confirm
compliance consistent with IPA’s mission and core values as well as ensure the
well-being and safety of its staff.
- Offer
timely support in the implementation of human resources and operational
initiatives as outlined by Senior Director of Global Human Resources - Enhance
linkage between headquarters and country offices as well as other regions
(as needed) to ensure proper operational coordination - Ensure
compliance with local labor laws, employee contractual obligations and
IPA’s mission and core values - Support
country offices in the oversight of hiring, promotions and enforcement of
human resources policies and procedures - Guide
the Senior Director of Global Human Resources and country offices on
security management, planning and implementation - Implement
site security, protocols and procedures - Ensure
that IPA’s offices in Africa have security contingency plans and
procedures in place as well as provide timely updates on issues related to
security, labor laws, customs and other local regulations - Serve
as the focal point during emergency response activities - Perform
operational analysis to impact IPA’s organizational needs and provide
support to senior management team’s decision making - Improve
operational processes to ensure efficiency and effectiveness within Africa - Provide
administrative oversight to country office HR/operations and personnel as
needed
- The
applicant should preferably hold a Bachelor’s degree - A
minimum of six to seven years’ non-profit/NGO sector experience with
three to four years in an operational role - Possess
the ability to work in a fast paced environment - Previous
security/safety management experience - Previous
human resources experience a plus - Possess
excellent interpersonal, communication and presentation skills - Ability
and willingness to travel regularly
