Faith- based local Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO) offering Comprehensive
HIV Care & treatment, Training, Research & General Medical Services;
also providing Health Systems Strengthening to scale up comprehensive HIV/AIDS
Services in 16 districts of Central Uganda.
Research Officer will be responsible for collecting, organising, analysing, and
disseminating information using ethical methodologies in order to enhance the
conduct and documentation of an ethical and sustainable Mildmay Uganda Research
programme that will inform policy, training and practice, for integrated
prevention, care and treatment of HIV and other health priorities. The
incumbent will also develop fundable research concept papers and proposals.
- Actively
participate in the assessment and update of the current research strategy
so as to ensure focus in the identification and implementation of MUg
research activities - Signficantly
contribute to the Design, Implementation and Coordination of
studies/evaluations conducted by MUg and/or collaborating teams to ensure
achievement of study objectives. - Actively
engage in the compiling and documenting of lessons and best practices for
MUg so that policy and programming are informed and kept relevant - Participate
in the departmental operations to ensure efficiency and effectiveness in
all the operations of the institutional review board in compliance with
UNCST regulations. - Actively
engage in the developement of research proposals for reseach conduct and
resource mobilisation for sustainability - Perform
any other tasks as may be assigned by your Supervisor.
- The
candidate should hold a Bachelor’s Degree in either Public Health;
Statistics; Population and Reproductive health or Social Sciences with
post graduate qualification in any of these or other related field. - S/he
must have certificate qualification in research methodologies and research
Ethics. - S/he
must have a minimum of three years of Operations Research experience in
relevant health programs with demonstrable knowledge and understanding of
health research; implementation research and research grant writing. - Excellent
communication and interpersonal skills, Proficiency in various Microsoft
office packages and working knowledge of English and local language(s) are
crucial. - Skills
in Abstract Writing are a requirement for this job. - Ability
to work under pressure; and in sympathy with the Christian values of
Mildmay Uganda. - Evidence
of a non-judgemental approach regarding race, religion, culture, sexuality
and lifestyle is critical.
