Mildmay Uganda (MUg) is a Faith-
based local Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO) offering Comprehensive HIV Care
& treatment, Training, Research & General Medical Services; also
providing Health Systems Strengthening to scale up comprehensive HIV/AIDS
Services in 16 districts of Central Uganda.
Job Summary: The Medical
Officer – Surgical will be responsible for providing surgical and medical
services to patients at Mildmay Uganda and within the communities for imp.roved
health outcomes of clients.
Key Duties and Responsibilities: 
  • Offer
    timely surgical services and participate in clinical management of clients
    with HIV and other health conditions under care at Mug in order to promote
    health and reduce morbidity, mortality and transmission of diseases in
    communities.
  • Actively
    participate and support the functionality (working) of the surgical teams
    to proficiently deliver quality surgical services for MUg clients to
    improve their health outcomes
  • Perform
    and publish research in reputable peer review journals and contribute to
    the body of medical evidence, thereby promoting best clinical practices of
    HCWs, informing and influencing national and international policy.
  • Manage
    and account for assigned organizational funds so as to enable achievement
    of the planned activities
  • Perform
    any other tasks as may be assigned by your Supervisor.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience: 
  • The
    applicants should hold Degrees in Medicine & Surgery – MBChB with a
    valid Annual Practicing Licence.
  • A
    minimum of three or more years post internship clinical practice with
    specific demonstrable experience in surgery.
  • Team
    management experience is an added advantage.
  • Ability
    to work under pressure; and in sympathy with the Christian values of
    Mildmay Uganda.
  • Evidence
    of a non-judgemental approach regarding race, religion, culture, sexuality
    and lifestyle is critical.
  • Excellent
    communication and interpersonal skills, Proficiency in various Microsoft
    office packages and working knowledge of English and local language(s) are
    crucial.
