Faith-based local Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO) offering Comprehensive
HIV Care & treatment, Training, Research & General Medical Services;
also providing Health Systems Strengthening to scale up comprehensive HIV/AIDS
Services in 16 districts of Central Uganda.
Job Summary: The
Clinical Services Manager will be responsible for managing the activities of
the Clinical Services function at Mildmay Uganda and lead the teams to
proficiently deliver medical and other services for improved health outcomes of
clients and the communities.
Key Duties and Responsibilities: 
  • Ensure,
    with technical input from Clinical Specialists (physician, paediatrician)
    that the clinical teams carry out thorough assessment, accurate diagnosis
    and appropriate management of HIV infected children, adolescents and
    adults in the care of MUg in order to reduce HIV related morbidity,
    mortality and transmission in the communities.
  • Responsible
    for steering the coordination activities in the clinical services division
    so as to achieve functional teams that proficiently deliver medical and
    other services for improved health outcomes of the clients and the
    community
  • Actively
    contribute to the development and execution of the MUg strategic plan
  • Working
    in liaison with Training and HSS teams support the competence building of
    health workers and capacity building of health facilities to scale up
    service delivery for improved clinical practice, health systems and
    patient/community outcomes.
  • Working
    in liaison with Research teams, ensure that the department conducts
    research activities to contribute to the body of (new) medical evidence, thereby
    promoting best clinical practices of HCWs, informing and influencing
    national and international policy.
  • Significantly
    contribute to increased organizational funding base through diverse
    resource mobilization, for improved program sustainability for both general
    and private medical services at MUg
  • Appropriately
    budget, manage and account for assigned organizational funds so as to enable
    achievement of the planned departmental activities
  • Take
    lead in ensuring delivery of high quality clinical services to clients and
    their families, within the ethical code of conduct and the Standard
    operating procedures
  • Perform
    any other duties as maybe assigned by supervisor.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience: 
  • The
    candidate should hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Medicine and Surgery (MBChB)
    with post graduate qualification in Family Medicine or Public Health.
  • A
    minimum of three years’ experience in health service delivery and two
    years in a management position.
  • The
    successful candidate will have experience in HIV Clinical care.
  • Full
    Registration with the Uganda Medical and Dental Practitioners’ Council and
    a valid Annual Practising Licence are required for this job.
  • Ability
    to work under pressure; and in sympathy with the Christian values of
    Mildmay Uganda.
  • Excellent
    communication and interpersonal skills, Proficiency in various Microsoft
    office packages and working knowledge of English and local language(s) are
    crucial.
  • Evidence
    of a non-judgemental approach regarding race, religion, culture, sexuality
    and lifestyle is critical.
