Job Summary: The IITA Research Associate – M&E will
support the Fast Track Project by aiding the project team in carrying out
Research in Uganda.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Take
leadership in developing the overall project monitoring strategy, and provide
technical leadership for its operationalization in Uganda; - Actively
participate in the design of the M&E strategy and operationalization
of the project as a whole; - Steer
all field-based activities including but not limited to data collection,
recruitment and training of enumerators, data collection, - Develop
and manage the project data base, pooling all data and outputs from the
different project activities into one place where scientists and the
policy actors can access it from; - Basing
on the result based management strategy, contribute to the development and
implementation of specific M&E strategies that the project can adopt
to track progress of all project activities, their progress and measure
their impact on participants’ knowledge, attitude and skills, and changes
in policy implementation actions/strategies; - In
charge of the operationalization of the project result-based management
plan and the M&E strategy facilitating the learning alliance platform
to develop and maintain a monitoring strategy for the iterative social
learning process and its impacts. - Keenly
track progress of research activities, development of research products
and policy engagement actions; - Responsible
for the development of project annual work plans in collaboration with
technical modules of the project by compiling various activity plans,
conducting progress reviews and writing project performance reports; - Support
scientists to integrate monitoring and evaluation indicators in the
implementation of research activities - Compile
and send reports as required - Perform
any other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- The
ideal candidate should hold a Master’s degree in Agricultural Economics or
a related field. - A
minimum of three years’ experience working as a monitoring &
evaluation specialist, preferably on agriculture, nutrition and/or food
security programs. - Extensive
knowledge and understanding of the programming, budgeting process of
international donor agencies. - Possess
the ability to interact in a diversified work environment. - Readiness
to travel within and outside Uganda. - Excellent
verbal and written communication skills. - Fluency
i.e. reading, writing and speaking, in the English language.
