Coordinator
Health Access Initiative (CHAI)
Uganda
Initiative (CHAI) is a global health organization committed to strengthening
integrated health systems in the developing world and expanding access to care
and treatment for HIV/AIDS, malaria and other diseases. Based on the premise
that business oriented strategy can facilitate solutions to global health
challenges, CHAI’s solution-oriented approach focuses on improving market
dynamics for medicines and diagnostics; lowering prices for treatment;
accelerating access to life-saving technologies; and helping governments build
the capacity required for high-quality care and treatment programs. CHAI
creates large-scale impact by working with governments and other NGO partners,
enabling more than 2 million HIV+ people to access the medicines needed for
treatment through lower pricing agreements for treatment options in more than
70 countries. CHAI acts as a catalyst to mobilize new resources and optimize
the impact of these resources to save lives, via improved organization of
commodity markets and more effective local management.
has been involved in developing a Lab Information Management System for the
Central Public Health Laboratory, enabling better tracking of HIV patients
throughout the care cascade. eHealth has also engaged with the National Medical
Stores (NMS), and the central medical warehouse for public-sector facilities in
Uganda, to track item delivery and facility planning performance, using
historical ordering patterns to improve commodity planning. In the private
sector, eHealth has worked on streamlining supply chains for Zinc/ORS with an
Android application for field-based sales reps and promoters.
in Uganda’s eHealth space, we are looking for an eHealth Volunteer Software
Developer to make a direct and tangible impact on the health of Ugandans with
technology. We work on things like decreasing stock-outs or reducing prices of
essential drugs nationally, not increasing ad click-through rates. The
complexity involved in truly delivering on those goals should be something you
are excited to tackle. CHAI has an entrepreneurial culture that encourages new
projects and risk-taking, and you would have the latitude to drive initiatives
from inception to impact.
