Entry Level NGO Vacancies – Volunteer Programme Manager at Soft Power Education

About US:
Soft Power Education (SPE) is an education-focused NGO working in
Uganda. Founded in 1999, SPE works across three key programmatic areas aimed at
improving quality of life through education: Alternative Education, Livelihoods
and School Infrastructure. With SPE primarily being funded by donations from
volunteers, volunteers are integral to the sustainability of SPE’s programmes.
Job Summary:  The Volunteer Programme Manager will be to
integrate volunteers into SPE’s programmes effectively. This is a fantastic
opportunity for an out-going individual with a keen interest in the role of
volunteers in international development to develop their skills in a wide range
of areas.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
·        
Responsible
for the management of volunteer programmes including one-day, long term and
groups;
·        
Promotion
of volunteer opportunities both nationally and internationally and recruitment
of volunteers;
·        
In
charge of the maintenance of volunteering records and documents;
·        
Provision
of support to the Bujagali Volunteer Coordinator and the Murchison Volunteer
Coordinator;
·        
Ensuring
knowledge and participation of volunteers across all SPE departments;
·        
Assisting
with media communications;
·        
Management
of funds within identified budget and ensuring of cost-effective and
transparent management of funds in accordance with organisation policies;
·        
Support
with any other reasonable ad hoc requests to help across other departments.
Qualifications, Skills and
Experience:
·        
The ideal
candidates should hold University degrees or equivalent, preferably in a
relevant subject;
·        
Direct
experience of managing a team
·        
Prior
experience with dealing with volunteers/groups
·        
Proven
experience is an advantage;
·        
Excellent
organisational and IT skills: MS Word, MS Excel
·        
Excellent
written English;
·        
Previous
experience with Adobe Illustrator or other design programmes
·        
Excellent
organisational and IT skills;
·        
Proven
ability to manage multiple tasks, plan ahead, problem solving and meet
deadlines;
·        
Keen
interest in developing new skills;
·        
Excellent
communication and interpersonal skills;
·        
Past
experience in east Africa, especially Uganda
·        
Proven
experience of self-motivation as well as working within a team.
