magazines, internet publishing, television, radio broadcasting, commercial

Stock Exchange, with an expected turnover of over UGX 60 billion (FY
2010/2011).

Job Summary: The New
Vision Reporter Newspapers will generate tips, story ideas, build and manage
sources, and to gather and report news in a compelling and professional manner
that connects with audiences, drives newspaper sales and advertising revenue
and enhances society.

sources, and to gather and report news in a compelling and professional manner
that connects with audiences, drives newspaper sales and advertising revenue
and enhances society.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Build
a rich list of news sources and generate scoops. - File
compelling and professional ready-to-print copy, primarily for New Vision
daily, but also for online, radio and TV in an integrated manner. - Write
features, special and investigative reports and analyses. - Apply
creativity, innovation and high sense of news for unique story ideas that
further strengthen Vision Group’s market leadership. - Attend
the daily editorial planning meetings to review the day’s paper, share
news tips and generate news ideas. - Ensure
assignments are executed promptly and articles submitted in time in
Standard English (UK). - Engage
and work together with editors and subeditors to get feedback on the
available space and story quality and improvement where necessary. - Actively
participate and contribute to the formulation and implementation of New
Vision editorial strategy to ensure audience and revenue growth and the
advancement of society.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- The
candidate should hold a Bachelor’s degree from a recognized University
preferably in Mass Communication. - Two
or more years’ experience as a journalist. - Proficiency
in written and spoken English. - Computer
literacy skills especially in Microsoft Word and Adobe Photoshop. - Possess
the ability to work under tight deadlines. - Ability
to work across multi-media platforms. - Good
network with news sources. - Quick
and innovative, with an eye for news. - Aggressive,
outgoing and social person.
