with headquarters in Hannover, offices in Ethiopia, Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda,
and liaison offices in Berlin and Brussels. In addition, we are working in
partnership with sub-grantees in Burkina Faso, Mali, Mozambique, Niger, Rwanda,
Senegal, India, Indonesia, Nepal, and Pakistan.
Job Summary:  The National Team Coordinator (NIC) – Finance
will serve as the liaison between the Country Director (CD) dealing with
strategic decisions and the operationalisation of the strategic goals and
objectives at country office and community levels. (S)He works in close
cooperation with the CD to ensure the effective and efficient implementation of
activities within his/her area of responsibility. (S)He also cooperates closely
with all other coordinators in the Country Office (CO) to effectively link
project design, quality implementation and reporting.
Key Duties and Responsibilities: 
1. Organizational Development:
  • Assist
    in the development of policies, procedures, financial reporting systems
    and objectives that will strengthen DSW’s financial management capacities
  • Technically
    support the development of policies and structures that ensure the
    adherence to financial guidelines (internal guidelines: e.g. finance
    manual/ external guidelines: e.g. legal requirements)
  • Actively
    support the development and implementation of training and coaching
    programs for CO (financial) staff members
  • Support
    the development and implementation of financial systems and tools (e.g.
    dashboard) as well as the budgeting and follow-up of any financial issues
    at the CO Management
  • Mentor
    and supervise country office finance staff regarding finance and content
    relevant areas
  • Actively
    coordinate and. monitor the finance staff including the development of
    clear goals targets for the finance team
  • Responsible
    for the coordination and implementation of the financial management
    policies and procedures to ensure that the CO has appropriate financial
    structures in place
  • Ensure
    that financial reports are submitted in time and comply with high quality
    standards
  • Coordination
    and support of the preparation of annual, and project based financial
    Audits
2. Operational Responsibilities:
  • Guide
    and support in the financial review of proposal budgets Assist with
    resolutions of daily operational problems encountered with financial
    systems, vendors, contracts, negotiations etc
  • Draw
    up, allocate, control and monitor of financial resources (C0-, Team- and
    Project-Budgets)
  • Coordinate
    and implement operational procedures and financial activities
  • Perform
    any other duties assigned by the Supervisor
Qualifications, Skills and Experience: 
  • The
    ideal candidate should hold a Degree from an accredited university in
    BBA/B.Com (Accounting). MBA, MSC /Accounting/Finance) is an added advantage MUST
    have a professional Accounting qualification like ACCA or CPA.
  • A
    minimum of five years’ experience in an NGO with at least two years at a
    managerial level Should be experienced with financial regulations and
    reporting for major donors e.g EU , USAID
  • Possess
    excellent computer skills in use of Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
  • Working
    knowledge and experience in usage of SUN Accounting & QuickBooks
    Software is a Must.
  • Strong
    and proven financial management skills within projects
  • Possess
    the ability to deliver high quality work, giving attention to details
    within deadlines
  • Ability
    to solve problems creatively, multitask and learn new concepts quickly
  • Ability
    to work with minimum supervision
  • Excellent
    communication skills and ability to work well in a team
  • Ability
    to initiate, design and implement financial systems and control
    procedures.
