About Compassion Project:
Bukedi Diocese (Anglican)
Church of Uganda carries out Christ’s work of teaching, preaching, healing and
nurturing her people. Working in partnership with compassion International, the
Diocese has a ministry of nurturing poor Children, releasing them from poverty
in Jesus name.
Key Duties and Responsibilities: 
  • Be
    a Christian model for children and their families
  • Be
    an advocate for children
  • Support
    children correspond with their sponsors
  • Be
    creative and innovative in the whole area of Child Development
  • In
    charge of project activity planning and implementation
  • Responsible
    for the documentation, record keeping/ filling of sponsor relation issues
  • Ensuring
    working in a team and be a team player
  • Ensuring
    Children are in a safe, nurturing environment at the project
  • In
    charge of child health monitoring and maintenance
  • Actively
    promote health education
  • Design
    and monitor the HIV/AIDS interventions
  • Ensure
    satisfactory learning processes whether formal or informal
  • Impart
    knowledge on entrepreneurship, Hygiene, Water and Sanitation
  • Proven
    integrity in personal and public life in line with the Christian values
  • Perform
    any other child related and Christian work assigned by the Project
    Director.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience: 
  • The
    applicants for the Child Development Officer vacancies should hold
    Diplomas in Social Work and Social Administration, Social Sciences;
    Development Studies, Education and other disciplines from recognized
    Universities/Institutions.
  • A
    minimum of two or more years’ experience in related fields (Discipleship,
    Children Ministry, He/she shall work at a local church project and
    includes visiting children in their homes and schools.
  • Active involvement in mission and ministry.
  • Past child development programming for an assigned age group
  • Working knowledge of basic NGO accounting
  • Possess the ability to communicate, both orally and in writing
  • Computer literacy skills are a must have.
  • Should
    be prepared to work beyond normal working hours as need arises and travels
    to the Compassion International Uganda Office from time to time as well as
    for training.
