(WFP) is the United Nations frontline agency against world hunger. WFP is the
largest and longest serving humanitarian agency in Uganda. Currently, WFP
focuses on three priority areas namely: Emergency Humanitarian Action (EHA);
Food & Nutrition Security (FNS); and Agriculture & Market Support (AMS).
WFP has operations in various parts of the Country.
World Food Programme Logistics Assistant will work hand in hand with the Head
of Sub Office and Logistics Officer to ensure that all logistics operations are
well managed.
- Post
daily dispatches of WFP food and nonfood commodities in the corporate
system; monitor the correct use and quantity as per loading orders; - Quickly
respond to queries regarding commodities; - Carry
out daily and monthly reconciliation of stock reports with the commodity-
tracking unit (COMPAS); - Report
timely any anomaly encountered from/by transporters in the delivery of
cargo from the Central Delivery Points (CDPs) to EDPs and to the final
Distribution Points (FDPs); - Utilize
WFP documents for all warehouse transactions as per WFP rules and
regulations (waybills, LTI, stock reports, loss reports etc.); - Ensure
Storekeepers in-charge are prompt in effecting segregation of damaged food
consignments/stocks and these are stacked separately for immediate
reconditioning/reconstitution; Conduct regular inspection of commodities
under storage and report any anomaly; - Carry
out inventory and collate monthly inventory reports; - Quickly
respond to queries on commodities in the field and elsewhere within the
programme; - Institute
loss mitigation measures, loss analysis and reporting; - Expeditiously
follow up spoilt food disposal authorizations, execution and ensure the
documents are kept for audit purposes; Participate in training staff at
EDPs on storage procedures and practices as necessary; - Control
and Account for food and non-food items (NFI) as per WFP warehouse
procedures; - Monitor
and supervise the activities of storekeepers, tally clerks and casual
laborers at the different EDPs falling under their jurisdiction; - Perform
any other duties as deemed necessary by either Head of Sub-Office of
Logistics Officer.
- The
ideal candidate for the United Nations World Food Programme (WFP)
Logistics Assistant vacancy should hold a University Degree in either of
the following fields: Accounts, Procurement & Logistics, Computer
Science, Statistics or any other related field obtained from a recognized
Institution; Or a Diploma in Accounts, Procurement & Logistics, Computer
Science, Statistics or any other related field obtained from a recognized
Institution; coupled with longer relevant working experience; - A
minimum of four or more years relevant working experience in a relevant
field gained from a reputable organization; - Excellent
command of both written & oral English is essential; - Computer
proficiency i.e. Good working knowledge and experience with Microsoft
Access, MS Word & Excel and other Networking Operating Systems.
Working experience with Relational Database Management System, Oracle and
SQL would be an asset. - The
applicants should have the ability to analyse data, identify and adjust
data discrepancies, communicate moderately complex matters clearly,
concisely, deal patiently and tactfully with people of different national
and cultural backgrounds
