with headquarters in Hannover, offices in Ethiopia, Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda,
and liaison offices in Berlin and Brussels. In addition, we are working in
partnership with sub-grantees in Burkina Faso, Mali, Mozambique, Niger, Rwanda,
Senegal, India, Indonesia, Nepal, and Pakistan. DSW is politically and
religiously independent. It has a Board of Directors and an Advisory Board that
advises and monitors its operations. DSW is a partner of the United Nations
Population Fund (UNFPA) and has consultative status with the United Nations
Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC).
Job Summary: The Senior
Project Officer -Resource Mobilization supports the International Team Manager
(ITM) or Country Office (CO) Team Manager in successfully implementing the
department strategies, projects and programmes. The Senior Officer is
responsible for the development and implementation of a part of a programme or
several projects or a specific task/ area within CO.
Key Duties and Responsibilities: 
  • Actively
    coordinate and lead the CO programme team in resource mobilization efforts
    and project design while pursuing strategies to identify and secure
    partnerships with institutions and organizations both local and
    regional. 
  • Offer
    technical support, backstopping and support capacity development in the
    field of resource mobilization to the CO staff
  • Oversee
    the project management cycle in the CO including supervision of staff
    responsibilities towards work plans, budgets and regular reports according
    to DSW guidelines and procedures
  • Support
    negotiation of partnership arrangements and contracts; coordinate teaming
    agreements, Memorandum of Understandings, and other institutional
    agreements with partners
  • Representing
    DSW towards partners and external stakeholders, specifically as a member
    of working groups, participating in coalition meetings and serving as a
    reference person for interested parties
  • Perform
    any other duties as assigned by the supervisor
Qualifications, Skills and Experience: 
  • All
    applicants should preferably hold a University degree (BA required, MA
    will be an added advantage)
  • A
    minimum of five years of relevant working experience with a reputable NGO
  • Proven
    experience in resource mobilization for non-profits and development work
    is essential. This can include experience in preparing successful project
    proposals to various international donors
  • Past
    exposure and experience in programme or project management and with at
    least two years of experience in staff supervision
  • Possess
    the ability to work effectively in teams; strong interest to build and
    manage working relationships with staff members and partners, and a
    willingness to foster open communications among diverse stakeholders
  • Proven
    ability to fluently communicate in English (both oral and written) with
    skills in both technical and persuasive writing.
  • Demonstrated
    experience in drafting and managing project budgets
  • Possess
    the ability to work with others to translate creative and new project or
    intervention ideas into practical project proposals
  • Possess
    excellent analytical and problem solving skills
  • Good
    computer literacy skills
