Uganda (HAU) (national organization) has promoted modern methods of pain and
symptom control as well as “whole-person” (holistic) care for
patients living with cancer and HIV/AIDS. HAU strives to uphold excellent
clinical standards and provide quality education courses and advocacy
activities to promote the spread of palliative care throughout Uganda and
Africa.
Resource Training and Development Officer (HRTD) will oversee the learning and
professional development of HAU’s workforce. The incumbent will assess training
needs of the HAU employees, learning objectives and applications from other
institutions, support teams with appropriate learning schemes, coordinates
training and volunteer programs within HAU.
Development:
- Develops
HR training and development strategies, analyses training needs in
conjunction with line managers; - Steer
the planning, directing and delivering training and development programs
including staff inductions; develops training programs that meet the
skills gaps; - The
incumbent will design and ensure the implementation of appropriate
e-learning strategies.
Medical Education:
- Works
closely with Clinical management and education function to organize for
continuous medical trainings; case conferences and journal clubs for team
members. - Document
reports on continuous medical trainings; - Makes
sure that certification of trainings; - Steer
the promotion of research activities to enhance learning; writing of
abstracts by team members and contributing to local and internal journals.
and on job Placements at HAU:
- Actively
participate in the recruitment of interns and group applications
interested in Palliative Care placements at HAU. - The
incumbent coordinates internship placements, participate in assessments of
internship programs; - Responsible
for the training of mentors and supervisors and documentation of successes
and lessons learnt on internship and placement program.
Program:
- Takes
part in the recruitment of skilled volunteers; develop volunteer job
descriptions; - Orient
and train volunteers; - Manage
and evaluate the volunteer program; review policies and procedures and
recommend changes. - Identify
volunteer staffing needs; ensures proper budget management; - In
charge of proper maintenance of documentation; - Coordinate
a reward/recognition program(s) and special events for volunteers. - Develop
promotional materials; M&E, statistics and reports.
applicant should hold a Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business
Administration, Public Admin, Project Planning & Management, Social Work
& Social Admin, Public Relations. Possession of a Master’s degree in
Training and Development, Human Resources Management, Organizational
Development, or Business Administration is an added advantage.
