About US:
NETWAS-U is a local, non-
profit making organisation registered in Uganda in 1996 to provide services in
the water supply, sanitation and hygiene (WASH) sector. The Ministry of Water
and Environment has contracted NETWAS-U to manage the Appropriate Technology
Centre in Mukono.
Key Duties and Responsibilities: 
  • The
    Coordinator will be the overall manager for the Appropriate Technology
    Centre (ATC) and will coordinate all the activities of the center on
    full-time basis.
  • The
    incumbent will draw all the workplan (quarterly and annual); submit to
    Ministry/DWD through the appropriate channel as may be required for
    approval and makes quarterly and annual reports.
  • The
    Coordinator will drive innovation of the different types of water supply
    and sanitation technologies which are appropriate for local conditions.
  • The
    job holder will be responsible for mobilizing resources and lobby for
    funds from donors for research and other activities of the center through
    collaboration.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience: 
  • The
    candidate should hold a basic degree in Engineering with relevant Post
    graduate qualifications in water resources engineering/ water supply
    management or hydrology. Possession of a PhD in relevant field stated
    above is a requirement.
  • At
    least six years of professional experience, 2 of which should have been in
    innovative research.
  • Significant
    experience in WASH activities, O&M of water facilities and in
    implementation of projects in rural area and small towns’ water supply
    systems shall be an added advantage.
  • Significant
    experience in Appropriate Technology Research (ATR) or R&D especially
    in the field of water supply development and management
  • At
    least be a member of a recognized professional body in a related field.
  • Possess
    demonstrated experience with quantitative and qualitative research
    processes.
