with headquarters in Hannover, offices in Ethiopia, Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda,
and liaison offices in Berlin and Brussels. In addition, we are working in
partnership with sub-grantees in Burkina Faso, Mali, Mozambique, Niger, Rwanda,
Senegal, India, Indonesia, Nepal, and Pakistan. DSW is politically and
religiously independent. It has a Board of Directors and an Advisory Board that
advises and monitors its operations. DSW is a partner of the United Nations
Population Fund (UNFPA) and has consultative status with the United Nations
Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC).
Job Summary: The Senior
Officer-Training Centre (TC) technically supports the National Department
Manager (NDM) – Programmes and Projects in successfully implementing the
department’s activities. The Senior Officer-TC ensures the effective
development, marketing, implementation and monitoring and evaluation of
trainings undertaken by DSW. The incumbent will work closely with the National
Department Manager Finances and Project officers to ensure that trainings are
implemented based on the budget and design.
Key Duties and Responsibilities: 
  • Responsible
    for the development, the implementation and monitoring of DSW’s training
    centre programmes, this includes amongst others the analysis and planning
    of training needs, ensure high quality training provision and evaluation
    of training delivery, support actively in training delivery and ensuring
    that trainings are implemented according to budgets
  • Representing
    DSW towards external and internal stakeholders in the context of the areas
    of responsibility, maintain positive relation with government agencies,
    civil society, multilateral and bilateral partners in the areas of
    operation
  • Render
    support to the Department Manager in preparing strategic recommendations
    (e.g. identifying gaps and prepare recommendations for action, identifying
    capacity building needs etc.)
  • Actively
    support the Department Manager in preparing regular reports according to
    DSW guidelines and procedures, prepare and submit high quality progress
    reports and ensure timely and quality reporting by partners
  • Support
    actively in resource mobilisation efforts by the development of a
    marketing plan for the training centre, increase visibility and market the
    Training Centre to ensure that it operates to its capacities and becomes
    self-sustaining
  • Perform
    any other duties as assigned by the supervisor
Qualifications, Skills and Experience: 
  • The
    ideal candidate should hold a University Degree in BA or related field (MA
    will be an added advantage)
  • The
    applicant should have at least five years of relevant work experience in
    designing and marketing and implementing training programmes
  • Possess
    excellent computer skills
  • Past
    experience in social marketing or institutional marketing will be an added
  • Possess
    the ability to deliver high quality work, giving attention to details
    within deadlines
  • Ability
    to solve problems creatively, multitask and learn new concepts quickly
  • Possess
    the ability to work with minimum supervision
  • Strong
    communication skills and ability to work well in a team
  • Ability
    to creatively initiate, design and implement business strategies
    procedures.
