Job Summary: The General
Manager will be responsible for overseeing the overall administrative functions
of the organisation to enable it achieve its mission and objectives as outlined
in the strategic plan. The incumbent will be responsible for managing and
controlling the day to day operations of the organisation.
Key Duties and Responsibilities: 
  • Plan,
    develop and disseminate strategies, annual action plans and contingencies
    basing on the strategic business plans; ensuring that the organisation is
    steered to achieve the targets defined.
  • Actively
    coordinate, monitor and evaluate the performances and activities of the
    organisation and departments, making sure that they are in line with the
    strategic plan and targets defined.
  • Intuitively
    review and recommend changes in policies as required, taking into account
    the primary interest of the organisation.
  • Actively
    coordinate and oversee the development and maintenance of a comprehensive
    set of operational procedures and guidelines as part of quality assurance.
  • Coordinate,
    liaise and provide timely plans and reports to the Board.
  • Oversee
    the day to day operations of the organisation ensuring optimal use of the
    available resources, through clear leadership, coaching, mentoring and
    developing strong management team to drive the business of the
    organisation.
  • Ensure
    the operation of organisation complies with the statutory requirements of
    Uganda.
  • Organize
    and chair meetings of the Management Team of organisation and participate
    in other support Board and Board Committee meetings and Annual General
    Meeting.
  • Implement
    an organisation structure which enables organisation to be the preferred
    supplier for customers and number one choice for business collaboration
    with other players.
  • Serve
    as a link between the Board of Directors and Management of the Tea Factory
    Company and implementation of Board policies.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience: 
  • The
    candidate should hold a Bachelor’s Degree in either of the following:  Business Administration, Agricultural
    Economics, Science in Agriculture, Food Science, Marketing, Economics,
    Logistics and similar or related fields. Possession of a Master’s Degree
    in the above highlighted fields will be an added advantage.
  • At
    least ten years’ management experience in a commercial or programme
    management environment.
  • Possess
    a high level of integrity, able to promote team spirit and an organisation
    culture consistent with the organisation’s vision, mission and values.
  • Outstanding
    leadership, analytical and business development skills.
  • Excellent
    track record in managing targets in a demanding environment and experience
    in leading change management initiatives.
  • Public
    relations, interpersonal and networking skills and ability to work
    successfully with the public and private sector.
  • Ability
    to translate strategic options into operational activities efficiently and
    effectively.
  • Able
    to apply sound business and private sector principles to drive the
    organisational growth while remaining faithful to the organisation’s
    nature and business.
  • Ability
    to take a long term view and harness available opportunities for both
    short and long terms benefits.
