Job Summary: The
Barclays Bank Branch Operations Officer is responsible for the effective and
efficient service provision, productivity and operational controls of the
branch. The main objective of the job is to ensure the achievement of high
level of customer service, high level of productivity and robust operational
rigour to achieve required service levels in all areas under the jobholder’s
direct control.
Key Duties and Responsibilities: 
1. Operational and Service:
40%
  • Deal
    with the demands and various corporate requests
  • Deal
    with in-house cheque deposits and outward clearance cheques as per laid
    down procedures, these include Utility payments as well i.e.  URA, Umeme, National Water, NSSF
    Payments as well.
  • Ensure
    all checks are performed and Zero tolerance on error posting on corporate
    accounts.
  • Handle
    end-to end customer queries and escalate where necessary
  • Support
    in handling of customer instructions 
    at the customer advisors desk where need arises  and ensuring customers are served in the
    shortest time possible
  • Render
    support in scanning of documents in sybrin i.e. TT  AND RTGS PLUS FDS where need arises
  • Assist  in 
    daily call over of teller vouchers at close of business and sign
    off as per procedure
  • Ensure
    Outward clearance cheques are sent for processing on time.
  • Daily
    provision of overall customer positions for various trade products
  • Own
    and manage customer queries and complaints ensuring  a seamless world class customer service
  • Manage  the query resolution system  by ensuring all the queries are logged
    in efficiently
2. Operational Rigour: 40%
  • Print
    and review daily reports for reconciliation of GL accounts and submit to
    branch manager for sign-off.
  • Ensure
    adherence  to the group IT security
    policy and controls in accessing the system
  • Compile
    a monthly summary of the cash differences for the Regional Operations
    Manager and Branch Manager.
  • Achieve
    the operational rigor excellence in all aspects of activities, processes
    and procedures undertaken
  • Comply
    with the operational risk and rigor in respect to protecting our people
    ,customers, assets  and the
    organization
  • Carry
    out weekly , monthly , quarterly snap checks in a timely manner and
    adhering  to the structure
  • Ensure
    Green Audit in all areas of operations
  • Ensure
    that all activities and duties are carried out in full compliance with
    regulatory requirements, Enterprise Wide Risk Management Framework and
    internal Barclays Policies and Policy Standards. Understand and manage
    risks and risk events (incidents) relevant to the role.”
3. People Management: 15%
  • Promote
    team work at CSC, work closely with other team members in the various
    teams.
  • Provide
    ways and means of challenging the way we have always done our things
    challenge the status quo , support and empower climate within the team ,
    share knowledge , experience ,best practice and provision of  constructive feedback as required
  • Provide
    cover to other team members when required.
  • Technically
    support and adopt the implementation of change initiatives.
  • Participate
    in local events to support local needs ,develop individual and team skills
    and raise Barclays profile in the local community
4. Self  Development -5%
  • Agree
    your personal development objectives with the team leader
  • Pursue
    self –development to increase personal effectiveness ,acknowledge
    strengthens and areas for development
  • Obtain
    constant feedback on PD from your team leader and other team leaders
  • Interact
    regularly with internal service providers (e.g. Operations, KYC Helpdesk)
    to ensure fast and efficient service to customers.
5. Community
  • Be
    involved in local community events and networking opportunities (e.g.
    clubs, meetings, business associations)
  • Identify
    community initiatives to become involved in and support as part of
    Barclays community initiatives (such as Make a Difference Day, Local
    community initiative, Financial Literacy)
  • Link
    community initiatives to both business opportunities and colleague events
  • Actively
    promote community agenda within the branch to build pride within
    colleagues and customers
Qualifications, Skills and Experience: 
  • The
    applicant for the aforementioned banking job should hold a First degree or
    diploma or relevant experience in a front-line banking
    sales/marketing/service environment
  • Basic
    Key Board skills

    proficient in internal computer operating systems and Applications
  • Excellent
    numerical and analytical Skills

  • Excellent
    interpersonal Skills
  • Detailed
    knowledge of the Bank’s products, services and policies including standard
    tariffs.
  • Good
    knowledge and understanding of overall Retail goals & objectives,
    including the branch’s objectives growth of sales, cost control and income
    contribution
  • A
    working knowledge of the procedure manuals
  • A
    good working knowledge and understanding of relevant legislation e.g. KYC,
    Anti-Money laundering, banking code, service standards, health &
    safety standards etc
  • A
    thorough knowledge of the bank’s internal departments, systems &
    procedures as well as risk & rigour requirements.
