Job Summary: The
Barclays Team Leader, Payment Verification will be responsible for offering the
best service to the internal and external customers for best management of
stakeholders and effective team leading of payments verification team. The
incumbent will serve as a key liaison with the offshore BSS team to ensure that
payments are processed in a timely manner and any issues arising are resolved
in a timely manner. He / she will also effectively analyse and reconcile all
payment instructions with particular emphasis on operational controls and
service management.
Barclays Team Leader, Payment Verification will be responsible for offering the

in a timely manner. He / she will also effectively analyse and reconcile all
payment instructions with particular emphasis on operational controls and
service management.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Operational Management –

- Actively
monitor branch queues in Sybrin for scanned payment instructions to ensure
that SLA is adhered to. - Perform
completeness checks on salaries received for processing including
confirmation of account balances, addition of I & V scripts and
indemnities in place as required and callback has been sufficiently done. - Perform
completeness checks on documents scanned including signature
verifications, confirmation of account balances, addition of I & V
scripts and indemnities in place as required. - Callback
Relationship Managers, branches and customers to confirm payment
instructions as per business rules and inform stakeholders of any issues
arising with their payments. - Regularly
interact with branches on discrepancies in following the FTOS policy - Authorise
captured work on the system (FCR) and in Sybrin acting in the capacity of
call back desk officer. - Ensure
that the proper end of day reconciliations have been done i.e. work
received and work processed, return to sender percentages, etc. are
monitored and reported on. - Maintain
a relationship with Vostro account holders to ensure that there are no
delays in the processing of their payment instructions. - Ensure
that there is clear ownership of any issues arising during processing of
Salaries, RTGS and TTS as well as timely resolution of any errors logged - Guide
the team on maintaining a strong control environment.
2. Controls – 40%
- Generate
daily MI in order to identify any performance gaps. - Actively
participate in snap checks as assigned by team manager - Update
Risk events raised within the team as well as follow up on resolution of
incidents raised.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- The
applicants for the Barclays Bank Payment Reconciler Job should hold a University
Degree or its equivalent - Two
or more years business experience or experience leading a team is
preferred - Exceptional
personal and team organisation skills. - Strong
communication skills. - Strong
interpersonal, team working and relationship skills. - Good
coaching and counselling skills. - Good
numerical skills and ability - Quality
conscious. - Keyboarding
/ PC skills. - Working
knowledge and accreditation in FTOS policy
