British Council Career Jobs – Regional Child Protection Manager

Organisation: British

Duty Station: Kampala,
Uganda
Reports to: Head of
Child Protection
About BC:
The British Council is the
world’s leading cultural relations organisation and creates opportunities for
people in the UK and worldwide to understand each other, to work together and
learn from one another. We see this as crucial to building secure, more
prosperous and sustainable futures for us all. We build trust and understanding
between different countries and cultures and develop strong international links
that are of benefit to people in Britain and the rest of the world. We call
this work – cultural relations.
The British Council engages
with millions of children directly and indirectly annually. Children engage in
a wide range of activities, both digital and offline, including learning
English, taking exams and participating in a broad span of programmes and
projects. These activities are organised by our staff and implementing partners
and delivered on or off British Council premises, involving frequent and
intermittent contact including overnight stays. Protecting children that come
into contact with the British Council, whether directly or through our
partners, therefore, is a top priority reflected in a zero tolerance risk
appetite for child protection and organisational membership of Keeping Children
Safe (KCS).
