Implementation is done in close collaboration with local government,

Engineer Rural Reconstruction will support the Human Reconstruction project
plans to establish water harvesting structures, soil & water conservation
interventions and community schools. The incumbent will work with the
communities to implement a Cash for Work basis with minor components to be
implemented to contractors.
- Conduct
feasibility surveys of potential sites incl. topo-surveys and soil
analysis - Prepare
technical design including development of Bill of Quantities and technical
drawings - The
Engineer will prepare tender documents, construction contracts, quantify
volumes and prepare certificates - Develop
project management trainings for communities, set up water users
associations, organize labor intensive works and set up Cash for Work
payment system - Oversee
works and advise technically
- The
Engineer should hold a Diploma or Degree in civil, water or agricultural
engineering - A
minimum of five or more years of practical experience in rural
reconstruction works - Proven
experience with community labor intensive works in Karamoja and community
labor management - Good
knowledge and understanding of social and ecological dynamics of
agro-pastoralist communities - Excellent
communication skills and interest to interact with community members and
LG staff - Motorcycle
riding skills with a valid riding permit - Keen
interest in field work under difficult conditions and pragmatic attitude - Willingness
to live and work in Amudat district, Karamoja - Moderate
in Kiswahili and perfect in English - Skills
in AUTOCAD drawing - Skills
in hydrology and structural engineering design - Skills
in surveying, mapping and use of dumpy level - Good
understanding of principles of soil and water conservation structures
