Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Train
and coach ZOA and CEFORD staff in transferring business development and
marketing skills to project beneficiaries. - Establish
contacts with private sector actors, assess potential for synergies and
facilitate establishment of commercial partnerships between producer groups
and input dealers, traders and processors. - Actively
facilitate participatory market research to inform farmer groups and BTVET
institutions on most competitive enterprises demanded by the regional
markets - Manage
the establishment and ensure quality and business operations of Village
Based Information System. - Spearhead
business plan competitions through call for proposal process, develop
clear evaluation guidelines and set up a coaching system to guide the
business development process. - Assess
feasibility and relevance to set up or revive business linkage platforms
in West Nile and if positive, lead its establishment. - Assess
feasibility and relevance of agribusiness concepts such as quality
assurance system for agro-inputs, value chain financing for producer
groups, tractor leasing by private investors, commercial business
development and coaching services, credit provision for business expansion
and set up these initiatives if assessed positively.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- The
ideal candidate should hold a Degree in Agribusiness, Economics, Business
Management or related field - Four
or more years of progressively responsible experience in an agribusiness
development position - Excellent
communication, writing and facilitation skills - Highly
inventive, creative and enthusiastic person with a critical sense of realism - Computer
literacy i.e proficient in the use of Microsoft Word and Excel - Self
motivator, having the ability to work with limited supervision and take initiatives - Possess
the ability to work in a dynamic and rural environment - Able
to ride a motorcycle with a valid driving/riding license.
