Job Summary: The WASH
Coordinator will provide technical management to the infrastructure (hardware),
hardware-related sustainability and software of World Visions water, sanitation
and hygiene promotion (WASH) interventions in Karamoja, under the GHG Program.
Coordinator will provide technical management to the infrastructure (hardware),

and hygiene promotion (WASH) interventions in Karamoja, under the GHG Program.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Ensure
all infrastructure-related interventions are implemented in line with the
project workplan (i.e. on time and of adequate quality). - Ensure
that sustainability issues related to infrastructure are addressed by
implementing appropriate strategies. - Ensure
that the target communities and schools are adequately mobilized and have
sufficient buy-in to the process of infrastructure development. - Actively
network with the local government (e.g. District Water Office) to
identify, assess, and follow-up with target communities and schools - Serve
as the primary link with the Mercy Corps economic development team to
identify and support private-sector WASH opportunities. - Coach,
mentor and supervise the Engineering Assistant and WASH Officer position
to ensure that adequate field supervision is carried out for all
construction works. - Actively
coordinate closely with the Behavior Change Specialist around key
sustainability issues related to operation, maintenance, and ownership of
WASH infrastructure. - Offer
technical support to infrastructure issues, as they arise, in order to
mitigate challenges to delivering a quality product on time. - Responsible
for ensuring technical reporting on an ongoing basis
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- The
WASH Coordinator should hold a good University Degree in Water and
Sanitation-related Engineering - A
minimum of three or more years’ experience in WASH Projects, preferably
within an NGO. - Possess
excellent communication and interpersonal skills. - Local
language skills are an asset. - Strong
computer skills and ability to write technical reports. - Strong
data management skills. - Past
experience working in Karamoja is preferred. - Motorcycle
riding skills are an asset. - Working
knowledge of GIS mapping software is an added advantage. - Be
a mature Christian, able to stand above denominational diversities.
