About NFA:
The National Forestry Authority
(NFA) is a Government agency established under the National Forestry and Tree
Planting Act, 2003 as a corporate body responsible for sustainable development
and management of Central Forest Reserves (CFRs) and provision of technical
support to stakeholders in the forest sub-sector.
Job Summary: The NFA
Public Relations Supervisor is responsible for supporting the (PR) Unit in
developing and/or implementing National Forestry Authority’s (NFA’s) corporate
communication strategy. This is geared to adequately communicate with and
pro-actively engage partners to foster a good image and support towards
implementation of NFA’s mandate.
Key Duties and Responsibilities: 
  • Assist
    the Public Relations Manager in availing publishable information to reporters
    through issuing press releases and managing press conferences.
  • Send
    and submit timely reports of workshops, exhibitions and other out-
    door/interactive events.
  • Prepare
    and publish positive monthly media Articles (and or pictures) on topical
    issues about the activities on NFA.
  • Keenly
    track and keep a log of proposals submitted for NFA’s consideration by
    media firms, advertising agencies and publishers.
  • Avail
    timely feed-back to media firms, advertising agencies and publishers about
    the status of such proposals.
  • Technically
    support the PR Manager in preparing media messages for special NFA
    (Government) occasions, anniversaries and events.
  • Intuitively
    review and up-date a data-base of NFA’s stakeholders.
  • Support
    the PR Manager in gathering and preparing information for the NFA website.
  • Technically
    support the PR Manager and Marketing Manager in preparing and placing
    media adverts for NFA’s products and services.
  • Perform
    any other relevant duties as assigned by the PR Manager.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience: 
  • The
    ideal candidate for the aforementioned NFA career placement should a
    Bachelor’s degree in mass communication, journalism or any other degree
    plus a post graduate diploma in journalism or mass communication.
    Possession of a post graduate training is an added advantage
  • At
    least two years working experience in public relations in a big and busy
    organisation.
  • Excellent
    communication and advocacy skills
