About HURINET:
Human Rights Network Uganda (HURINET-U) was established in 1993 by a
group of eight human rights organizations and was formally registered as an
independent, non-partisan and not for profit organization in 1994. The identity
of HURINET-U lies with its diverse Membership of 53 NGOs. Membership is drawn
from Organizations that are committed to a wide range of human rights issues
which are complementary in terms of areas of focus including; Civil and
Political Rights, Economic Social and Political Rights, Child Rights, Gender
and Women’s issues, Peace building and Conflict Resolution, prisoners’ rights,
refugee rights and labour rights. Members range from purely Ugandan NGOs to
International Organizations. The vision of HURINET-U is to work towards: ‘A society free of human
rights abuse.’ The mission of HURINET-U is: To foster the promotion, protection and
respect of human rights in Uganda through linking and strengthening the
capacity of member organizations’.
Job Summary: The Finance and
Administration Manager will steer the Finance and Administration function in
the organization. The incumbent will also be responsible for all the support
functions in the organization including financial accounting and reporting,
financial management, administration, and Human Resource management.
Qualifications, Skills and
Experience: 
  • The applicant should hold a Bachelor’s
    Degree i.e. Bachelor of Business Administration or the equivalent accrued
    working experience in a related position.
  • Possession of a Post graduate degree or
    diploma in Finance, Accounting, Management, Procurement, Human resource or
    related field will be an added advantage.
  • Professional qualifications such as ACCA,
    CPA, CIMA and ICSA 
  • A minimum of four or more years’ relevant
    experience with NGO’s particularly those addressing Human Rights.
  • Working knowledge in basic accounting
    packages including Quick books, zero etc will be of an advantage.
  • Excellent analytical skills and planning
    abilities.
  • Possess the ability to establish and
    maintain conducive collegial relations and perform effectively as a member
    of a team.
  • Willingness to travel and work in
    hard-to-reach areas, occasionally under strenuous conditions.
  • Computer literacy and excellent
    documentation skills are a must.
  • Availability and willingness to work extra
    hours during times of peak responses.
  • Highly developed cultural awareness and
    ability to work well in an International environment with people from
    diverse backgrounds and cultures
  • Highly developed interpersonal and
    communication skills including influencing, negotiation and coaching
  • Excellent time management and planning
    capacity.
