About NFA:
The National Forestry Authority
(NFA) is a Government agency established under the National Forestry and Tree
Planting Act, 2003 as a corporate body responsible for sustainable development
and management of Central Forest Reserves (CFRs) and provision of technical
support to stakeholders in the forest sub-sector.
Job Summary: The Legal
Officer performs tasks related to the provision of legal advisory services to
the NFA. Also, the job involves legal sensitization for staff, local
communities and NFA stakeholders.
Key Duties and Responsibilities: 
  • Serve
    as a key liaison for the Authority with relevant judicial institutions.
  • Actively
    participate in representation of NFA in Courts of Law.
  • Participate
    in preparing, Administering and Managing Legal affairs budgets and reports
  • Assess
    legal sensitization/training needs for NFA stakeholders
  • Actively
    participate in design and implementation of sensitization programmes of
    the local communities, NFA field staff and the general public on the
    forestry law and the role of the National Forestry Authority
  • Participate
    in drafting and negotiation of NFA Contracts
  • The
    applicant will conduct research on legal matters
  • The
    Legal Officer will also produce and send regular reports
  • Perform
    any other activities as assigned by the Supervisor.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience: 
  • The
    ideal candidate for the aforementioned NFA career placement should an
    honors Degree in Law plus Diploma in Legal Practice from LDC.
  • At
    least three years’ experience practicing law in a reputable Firm or in a
    similar position in a reputable organization.
  • Applicant
    who are advocates of the high court will have added advantage
  • Possess
    a valid practicing certificate.
  • Excellent
    ability to network with relevant judicial.
