amazing human beings are the essence of exceptional organizations. ThoughtWorks
is a community of passionate individuals whose purpose is to revolutionize
software design, creation and delivery, while advocating for positive social
change.
Thoughtworks In-house Lawyer will take responsibility for the African part of
our global legal team and play an important role in the development of our
business. We have a relaxed, informal and intellectually-challenging
environment that we think would suit a lawyer looking for the chance to work
autonomously within a unique environment. Based out of Accra, Kampala or
Johannesburg, this role will take responsibility for all legal queries for
Africa. Working as part of a global team you will advise the local leadership
teams and provide general commercial legal advice across a variety of areas.
You must be able to draft and negotiate consulting agreements; provide business
advice in a legal context; recognize potential legal problems and prevent
escalation at an early stage; obtain and manage relationships with outside
counsel; address compliance issues; and handle various other matters which may
arise. We have a flat organization in which people are encouraged to contribute
outside the sphere implied by their title.
You may critique a sales presentation one minute and have your legal
judgment second-guessed by a programmer the next.
