About Umeme:
Umeme is the largest
electricity distribution company in Uganda, with a mandate of operating,
maintaining, upgrading and expanding the electricity distribution network,
retailing electricity to its customers, improving efficiency within the
electricity distribution system. Umeme Limited is listed on the Uganda
Securities Exchange and cross-listed on the Nairobi Securities Exchange since
2012. Umeme has over 620,000 customers of which 20% are on pre-paid metering, a
staff complement of 1,400 employees and has over the last 9 years invested US$
271m in the electricity distribution system.
Job Summary: The
Facilities Officer will be responsible for the day-to-day smooth management and
operation of Umeme’s infrastructure in order to support our core business and
engagements.
Key Duties and Responsibilities: 
  • The
    incumbent develops related budgets and oversees leasing contracts
  • Coordinates
    procurement of equipment for all offices excluding technical facilities.
  • Manages
    all civil works and Maintenance for all Umeme premises
  • Supervises
    third party service contracts including cleaning service providers and
    others and directs preventive maintenance procedures for all facilities;
  • Manages
    the rent payment, utility bills and rates for all offices;
  • Ensures
    all office buildings, parking lots, store areas, grounds and equipment are
    well maintained and in optimal working conditions;
  • Manages
    office space planning to ensure that the facility layout will accommodate
    present and future needs;
  • Performs
    periodic inspections of facilities, assesses problems and needs, and
    implements improvements in operations as appropriate;
  • Ensures
    facility operations are in compliance with established health and safety
    procedures;
  • Compiles
    and send reports for senior management
  • Drive
    value for money from all Umeme facilities
Qualifications, Skills and Experience: 
  • The
    ideal candidate should have a Bsc. Degree in Civil Engineering, with Post
    graduate qualifications in Business Management and Project Management or
    with professional qualifications in ACCA.
  • A
    minimum of three years’ experience in managing facilities across multiple
    sites.
