About NFA:
The National Forestry Authority
(NFA) is a Government agency established under the National Forestry and Tree
Planting Act, 2003 as a corporate body responsible for sustainable development
and management of Central Forest Reserves (CFRs) and provision of technical
support to stakeholders in the forest sub-sector.
Job Summary: The NFA
Director Natural Forests will be responsible for the sustainable management of
natural forests.
Key Duties and Responsibilities: 
  • Responsible
    for supervising the management of natural forests.
  • In
    charge of the preparation of annual business operational plans;
  • Developing
    guidelines, policies, strategies, systems and working methods to ensure
    sustainable management of the natural forests;
  • Responsible
    for the planning and managing budgets for the Directorate as allocated
    under the annual operating plan;
  • Overseeing
    the community partnership processes by supervising the initiation,
    administration and maintenance of partnerships with other agencies and
    institutions.
  • Developing
    financing and funding strategies for management of Natural Forests in
    accordance with the NFA Business Plan.
  • Mentor,
    supervise and monitor subordinate staff performance.
  • Supervising
    and providing technical advice to private tree farmers on the
    establishment, maintenance and tending of the trees.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience: 
  • The
    ideal candidate for the aforementioned NFA career placement should hold an
    Honours degree in Forestry or Natural Resources.
  • Possession
    of a Postgraduate training in management or any other relevant field is
    required.
  • A
    minimum of ten or more years work experience in a natural resources
    management environment five of which should be at a managerial level.
  • Possess
    excellent communication skills in listening as well as oral and written
    communication.
  • High
    level of integrity, resilience and reliability.
  • Result
    oriented with proven experience in networking, resource mobilization and
    fund raising.
  • Excellent
    interpersonal, self-confidence, team building and organizational skills.
