Job Summary: The Sustainability
Programme Manager will be responsible to mobilise and work with local
communities to implement activities aimed at improving income and food security
at household level. The successful applicant will be committed to the Cotton-On
Foundation’s goal of ensuring that communities are financially, socially and
environmentally sustainable in the project areas of Southern Uganda by 2020. The
role is a leadership and management role that will promote food security,
income security and income generating activities for improved livelihoods in
communities and households in Southern Uganda. You will lead the development
and/ or review of annual and quarterly work plans and budgets for the
sustainability programme in Southern Uganda.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:  
  • The
    applicants should hold Degrees in Agricultural Sciences. Masters level
    qualification preferably in Agriculture, Agronomy, Business &
    Entrepreneurship and / or Project Planning & Management.
  • At
    least five years livelihoods programme management experience in Uganda. 
  • Past experience in designing and implementing food security and income
    generating activities in the rural areas of Uganda.
  • Past
    exposure and experience in managing community based microfinance
    programmes.
  • Good
    knowledge and understanding of the CSR (Corporate social responsibility)
    and experience in Non-Profit Sector
  • Significant
    experience in managing Coffee production, processing and marketing an
    added advantage.
  • Past
    experience of building the capacity of others either as individuals or
    groups.
  • Excellent
    knowledge of sustainable livelihoods programming and agricultural value
    chains.
  • Sound
    knowledge of current government and other relevant key partners and donors
    strategies, priorities and policies in the field of livelihoods
    development. 
  • Computer
    literacy with a high level of knowledge and practice using Microsoft Office.
