Paul’s Cathedral Namirembe

Namirembe, commonly referred to as Namirembe Cathedral, is the oldest cathedral
in Uganda. It serves as the Provincial Cathedral of the Church of Uganda and
the diocesan cathedral for Namirembe Diocese, the first diocese to be founded
in the Church of Uganda province, in 1890. Between 1919 and 1967, the Cathedral
served as the provincial cathedral of the Church of Uganda, Anglican Communion.
In the 1960s, the headquarters of the Church of Uganda moved to All Saints
Church in Nakasero then moved back to Namirembe later.
Archivist and Tour Guide will be responsible for the acquisition, management
and maintenance of Namirembe Cathedral documents and other Church materials
that have historical importance for the Anglican Church. The archivist and tour
guide shall have an important role as the guardian of the memories and records
that shape the identity of Namirembe Cathedral as well as conduct tours around
the Cathedral for visitors.
- The
applicant should hold a First degree in any of the following: history,
law, tourism, and English literature. - Three
or more years of related experience in a similar or comparable position. - The
candidate must demonstrate keen interest in history and an awareness of
the importance of archives and tourism with a solid knowledge of Microsoft
