2 ZOA International NGO Positions – Project Officer – Education/Civic Education

livelihoods of communities that are affected by armed conflict or natural

experience injustice, despair and suffering. We apply a programmatic integrated
approach combining aspects of food security, land tenure, agribusiness,
livelihood, WASH with education, child protection and youth development.
Implementation is done in close collaboration with local government,
traditional and regional leaders and local partners.
Job Summary: The Project
Officer – Education/Civic Education will be part of a team that is   responsible for the implementation of Civic
Education and Education projects within ZOA Amudat Programme aimed at
increasing community awareness on civic education and citizenship, enhancing
behavioral change and building capacities of local governments and Civil
Society Organizations (CSOs) and improve on the access and utilisation of
Education Services in Amudat district.
Key Duties and Responsibilities: 
  • Actively
    coordinating community governance activities and Basic Social service
    project activities implemented by CSOs, CBOs, local partners, communities and
    local government leaders.
  • Technically
    support in activity planning and scheduling with local partners, CSOs and
    communities.
  • Coordinate
    mobilization, implementation, monitoring activities.
  • Ensure
    project outputs are consistent with project proposals, log frames and in
    line with quality standards and country policies.
  • Ensure
    appropriate project integration with other projects and timely reporting
    of project activities and results.
  • On
    a monthly basis, the incumbents will send monthly reports to the Coordinator
    Civic education as required by ZOA’s programme Policy.
  • Representing
    ZOA among local stakeholders, communities and local government
    authorities. (Coordination, networking, building and maintaining good
    relationships).
  • Actively
    participates in the development of trainings and capacity building plans
    for CSO, CBOs and local partners.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience: 
  • The
    Project Officer – Education/Civic Education should hold a Bachelor’s
    Degree or Diploma in Social Works/Administration, Social Sciences, Project
    Planning and Management, Development Studies, education or related field.
  • A
    minimum of two or more years work experience implementing Civic Education,
    community development projects and or Formal Education in pastoralist
    context.
  • Willingness
    to work and live in Amudat district
  • Excellent
    oral and written communication skills
  • Working
    knowledge of Kiswahili and or Pokot is desirable
  • Previous
    experience working in Karamoja will be added advantage.
