Responsibilities:
- The Driver has the full responsibility for
any vehicle assigned, in accordance with NRC policies and procedures - Drive NRC vehicles in a manner compatible
with national road safety laws and standards, and NRC Transport Rules,
with due consideration given to driving conditions - Ensure the good running and maintenance of
NRC vehicles through daily checks, and weekly reports, reporting any
problem or concern to the line manager - Ensure the completion of the NRC Log book,
for daily checks, fuel received, and all journeys undertaken - The Driver must use the weekly check form
to report on equipment required for vehicles, and in cases of handover to
another driver - Significantly contribute to team meetings
to report on vehicles, and share problems and solutions to issues faced in
managing the fleet, workshop and drivers, to minimize cost and run the
fleet in the most efficient way possible. - Ensure good communication with colleagues
at all levels, ensuring that any problems faced are reported to the line
manager - Ensure that you adhere to NRC procedures,
including assuring security clearance for all vehicle movements - Ensure that NRC procedures are followed in
full, in the case of any damage or accident occurring to NRC vehicle under
your responsibility - Repair minor breakdowns and report all
defects to Transport Assistant for further action - Work in liaison with the mechanic during
repair or service carried out on the vehicle to improve technical
knowledge and capacity to respond to problems in future - Remain flexible and supportive to
projects, by carrying out other duties where these do not comprise the
above direct responsibilities
Experience:
- The applicants for the NRC Driver vacancies
should hold a valid driving license, minimum DL class and
Certificate/Diploma from recognized training institution - Familiarity with Uganda traffic
regulations - Ability to write basic reports
- Possess the ability to drive safely
according to the established traffic rules - Satisfactory maintenance of vehicles
assigned to the driver - Organized and precise record keeping for
daily checks, Log Book, and weekly checks - Ability to show flexibility, initiative,
adherence to procedures, and work independently - Possess the ability to work with NRC staff
and colleagues to represent the organization in a professional manner.
