Director
Network (UWASNET) is a National Network of International and National NGOs
working in the water and sanitation sector of Uganda. UWASNET has a membership
of over 200 NGOs that operate in different parts of the Country.
and Networking Officer will co-ordinate UWASNET input on all issues of
consultation and information sharing including project work, research,
networking and members liaison. Mentor member officers of the umbrella
organisation by ensuring that they are kept fully up to date and appraised of
the latest developments in relation to issues of the Water and Sanitation
sector of Uganda. The incumbent will also actively promote and support the
development of UWASNET.
and manage partnerships at National and network level:
- Carry
out annual Physical Audit of all members and Update and review membership
inventory - Support
members to undergo quality assurance mechanism (QUAM) according to NGO and
good governance standards - Strengthen
Members, Region coordination and thematic working groups - Build
and maintain direct relationships with WASH sector Partners and members to
ensure networking and peer-to-peer learning and internally and other WASH
Coalition members and partners. - Plan,
coordinate and organise meetings including the preparation and
presentation of reports, publicity material and other relevant
documentation.
- Document
members, activities for dissemination, sharing and for annual NGO
performance reporting - Support
members in strategic learning events or sessions at relevant sector
events, ensuring strategic participation of members sector activities - Responsible
for the development and implementation of the communication strategy for
the network - Set
up and update communication and information management systems (web-based
information, newsletter, reports and publications, etc) - Expeditiously
follow up and analyze trends and new development in the WASH sector and
share with members and other team members and Partners - Developing
information products and lobbying materials for members and the other
stakeholders - Works
closely with the national and local media on advocacy messages - Ensuring
dissemination of information to various stakeholders, and website
management - According
to needs, support knowledge generation, consolidation and dissemination on
priority sector themes related to Water, sanitation and hygiene behaviour
change at scale, effective monitoring, sustainability and equity. - Act
as the main point of contact, response coordinator and lead on sharing
information, and sector updates on a range of WASH related issues.
- The
ideal candidate should hold a bachelor’s degree in Development
communication / public relation/Social Sciences. - Five
or more years’ experience with NGOs; - Working
knowledge of the WASH sector is not a must - Knowledge
of and experience in national and international development media work is
essential. - Previous
experience working with a vibrant network will be added advantage. - Open,
dynamic, flexible and pro-active coordinator with vision, leadership
skills and an antenna for relation management, who can work with a minimum
of guidance - Excellent
facilitation and communication skills with ability to interact across all
levels - Excellent
organization skills to manage a multi-partner organization structure - Excellent
