Manager – NMCP

vulnerable people by closing the gap between knowledge and action in public health.
Together with our partners, we are helping managers and leaders in developing
countries to create stronger management systems that improve health services
for the greatest health impact.
Strengthening for Health Commodities is a five year program supporting the
Government of Uganda’s health system to improve the availability and
accessibility of essential medicines and health supplies (EMHS).The expected
results of are to:1) strengthen national policies and strategies and support
cost-effective, equitable, and transparent utilization of EMHS resources; 2)
strengthen country capacity for effective management and utilization of EMHS;
and 3) increase availability and access of EMHS among priority populations.
Technical Officer will support the NMCP in maintaining the current logistics
management information system, reporting requirements and supply chain
effectiveness to enable the program make informed decisions related to supply
chain management. S/he will also offer technical guidance in collaboration with
the Pharmacy Division to the ministry of health’s NMCP to strengthen the
pharmaceutical management of malaria commodities for both public and
Private-Not- For-Profit (PNFP) sectors. This technical assistance is also aimed
at improving the capacity of the NMCP in performance monitoring of the malaria
commodities supply chain.
- Work
closely with JMS and stakeholders to strengthen and improve ordering and
reporting rates by health facilities - Support
NMCP in the coordination with various funding partners to monitor and
analyze malaria commodities pipeline for PNFP sector and all other levels
of the supply system. - Support
annual quantifications and procurement plans for malaria commodities. - Support
PMI in coordinating pre-storage in-country logistics for PMI supported
malaria commodities - Assist
in the preparation and monitoring of the Global Fund for AIDS Tuberculosis
and Malaria (GFATM) Procurement and Supply Chain Management (PSM) plans
for malaria commodities. - Assist
in the collection and analysis of supply chain management data on
indicators for malaria commodities and prepare periodical performance
reports.
- The
ideal candidate should hold a degree in Pharmacy; supply chain management
training or logistics management is an added advantage - Work
experience in providing logistic management technical assistance
especially in the area of supply chain management, quantification and
procurement - Three
or more years work experience with medicines logistics management
information systems - Working
experience in Uganda with knowledge and comprehensive understanding of the
Uganda public health system. - Previous
experience with USAID supported programs is an added advantage - Proven
ability to collaborate with other stakeholders in developing creative and
strategic solutions to achieve common goals - Willingness
to be flexible and adapt to changing priorities and shifting deadlines - Demonstrated
strong organizational, administrative, communications and reporting skills
- Strong
teamwork and teambuilding skills - Strong
English skills required, including ability to write lucid technical
reports and documents - Demonstrated
computer skills, including knowledge of Windows, Microsoft Word, Excel and
Power Point.
