Job Summary: The Radio
Station Manager will oversee the station’s programming and administrative
operations and ensure smooth daily operation with an aim of growing revenues
and managing costs.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- The
jobholder will ensure overall technical quality control of content and its
presentation, in line with the editorial policy. - Make
sure that the station’s programming and audiences are of commercial
relevance in order to grow the station’s revenue. - Oversee
and supervise the performance of the presenters and other staff in order
to ensure that they are performing to the set standards. - Manage
the station’s budget and coordinating this with Head of Radios both for
office and for external projects e.g. promotions in order to keep check
between revenue and expenditure. - Attend
and organize the weekly station meeting in order to brain storm on ideas
and pass on any decision information from management and get feedback from
the team. - Responsible
for managing the general administration of the office e.g. signing of
vouchers, leave management, casual staff and ensuring work tools are
available. - Manage/coordinate
voice testing of anticipating presenters in order to look out for new and
exciting people and building a database of talent. - Manage
the promotions for the station attending meetings with sponsors and the
marketing team in order to attract and retain audiences to the station. - Conduct
meetings for the prime time shows to ensure consistent appeal to the
audience. - Compile
and submit periodic reports to management detailing station’s activities
and performance to aid decision making.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- The
applicant should preferably hold a good university degree in Mass
Communication preferably specializing in Radio Broadcasting or BA Business
Administration or any related course from a recognized university. - At
least three years’ experience in radio programming - Detailed
working Knowledge of the Rules & Regulations governing the
communications and broadcasting industry (i.e. Uganda Communications
Commission & Uganda Broadcasting Commission). - The
ideal candidate must have a good track record as an administrator, staff
developer, & must be computer literate. - The
applicant must also be versatile in the various fields of Radio production
and programming. - Ability
to work for long hours under tight deadlines. - Highly
creative and able to work in a highly competitive environment. - Must
speak Lugbara, Kakwa, Swahili and English. - Possess
the ability to translate written material into radio programme. e.g. DJ
scripts, promotional scripts,
