Rights and Accountabilities in African Communities (PRAAC)

AusAID is implementing a “Promoting Rights and Accountabilities in African
Communities” (PRAAC) project in three districts of Kampala, Kamuli and Lira and
also policy influence work at national level. PRAAC as a project aims at
ensuring improved social and economic outcomes for marginalized people
(especially women, young people and people living with disabilities), as well
as stronger and more inclusive communities with an enabling legal and
institutional environment. PRAAC is a five year project and currently in the
Fourth year of implementation.
Facilitator will be responsible for the planning, implementation, learning and
evaluation of project program strategies with the aim of continuously improving
the quality and relevance of PRAAC project interventions. Together with the
Project Manager, the PF will lead on project design, advocacy, research, and
capacity building of staff on this project. He/she will offer technical
leadership to the team in areas of advocacy and issue analysis.
- Steer
the implementation of project interventions at district and community
level based on the project documents, community in coordination with
project staff, programme unit management, partners. - Carry
out regular project administrative activities including writing and
modification of project outlines, updating and generation of SAP reports
and updates, requests and work plans. - Establish
and maintain appropriate working relationships with government, partner
organisations, local NGOs, CBOs, community structures, women and youth
groups. - Compile
and prepare all project related reports with high quality and produced in
a timely manner, and are based on the log frames and reporting formats as
required by the donor and Plan. - Support
documentation of project processes and capturing of good practices for
programme learning. - Take
a lead role in the promotion of project approaches to protect lines of
marginalised women and youth. - Strengthen
community capacity to manage protection of rights of women and youth
related interventions through awareness creation based on human rights
principles while encouraging participation of marginalised women and youth
and inclusive service provision by duty bearers. - Orient
and give technical advice to clients and other service providers on
matters related to the law and human rights including court self
presentation, avenues for redress for rights violations. - Carry
out training and facilitation for partner staff communities, women and youth
on human and legal rights protection. - Actively
promote networking of groups and integration of programmes to strengthen
linkage both internally and externally. - Ensure
people and communities are actively participating in addressing
inequalities against marginalised women and youth.
- The
applicants should hold Bachelor’s degree in Law or its equivalent, post
graduate studies from Law Development Centre; - Three
or more years in implementation of community development projects; - Proven
abilities in planning and coordination; - Working
knowledge of court processes and procedures; - Knowledge
in Human Rights Laws and legal laws of Uganda; - Excellent
Interpersonal, analytical and communication skills; - Excellent
communication skills appropriate to the audience; and - Computer
proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office.
