About YSB:
Yunus Social Business (YSB) is social business accelerator, focusing on
incubating and financing social businesses globally. A social business is a new
kind of company that combines the strengths of both the social development and
the business world. It is created with the sole purpose to solve a social
problem like NGOs but to do so in a financially sustainable way like
businesses. YSB was co-founded by Nobel Peace Laureate Muhammad Yunus, founder
of the microfinance organization Grameen Bank, as well as a variety of social
businesses in Bangladesh and worldwide. A social business ourselves, we report
directly to Professor Yunus, and we are part of the Grameen network of over 40
social businesses and more than 50,000 employees. Our main office is in
Frankfurt, Germany and we have an on-the-ground presence through our local
country teams in Albania, Haiti, Brazil, Colombia, Tunisia, India, and Uganda.
Job Summary: The Office
Manager will provide administrative and event management support to YSB’s
office whilst in liaison with other teams at Headquarters in Germany and its 7
other country offices around the world.
Key Duties and
1. Administration and Office management:
  • In charge of the development and execution
    of administrative processes and documents
  • Active coordination of all appointments
  • In charge of the organisation of
    participation of members of the team in Regional events
  • Problem solving/ trouble-shooting
    questions of day-to-day work (including dealing with various suppliers)
  • Render administrative support to all local
    employees and consultants, including volunteers, mentors and experts
  • Issuing contracts, registering employees
    with (tax) authorities
  • Ensure correct filing of all relevant
2. Finance and Accounting:
  • Record all financial transactions
    (invoices, credit card statements etc.) on a weekly basis and coordinate
    with external tax advisers
  • Prepare monthly packages for external
  • Render support in budget monthly reporting
    of actuals against budget, including variance analysis
  • Assist in preparing the annual accounts
    and auditing process
  • Manage the liaison with banks
  • Optimize and handle contracts with
    external providers such as insurance contracts, IT and telecommunication,
3. Procurement of goods and services for YSB Uganda
4. Event Management, Communications:
  • Steer the organization of YSB’s events
    including event logistics, invitation management, design of marketing
    collateral, coordination with partners
  • Support the team’s outreach to potential
  • Post regular updates on social media to
    engage the global community
  • Update website /work together with web
    designers / administration of the YSB web domain
  • Perform any other activities dealing with
    the day-to-day or long-term business continuity and serving the purpose of
    advancing the Yunus Social Business Uganda 
Qualifications, Skills and
  • The applicant should hold a good
    Bachelor’s degree
  • At least two to three years of
    progressively responsible experience for a company with international
  • Excellent time management, organizational
    and scheduling skills, with:
  • Keen eye to detail
  • Possess the ability to multi-task
  • Ability to consistently meet deadlines and
  • Ability to engage in 100% follow-through
  • Excellent oral and written communication
    skills, including administrative writing skills and positive presentation
    skills with a focus on customer service orientation
  • Social media familiarity is an added
  • Ability to work independently in a
    fast-pace loosely structured environment
  • Ability to adapt quickly as things change
  • Comfortable working with an
    entrepreneurial and international team
  • Highly motivated to the cause and to the
    tasks, with an interest in social business
  • Familiarity and comfort with Microsoft
    Office and Google Apps
  • Fluency in written and oral English is a
