Manager
International Academies
Uganda
Consultancy firm, seeks to recruit for it valuable client, Bridge International
Academies which is the world’s largest chain of primary schools bringing world
class education to the poorest of the poor, democratizing the right to succeed.
Administration (30%): Oversight
and management of all Bridge space in Uganda – primarily office, accommodation
and warehousing
- Finding,
planning and organising Office Premises in Kampala suitable for
organization’s long-term needs - Maintains
office efficiency by planning and implementing office systems, layouts,
and equipment procurement. - Organizing
Meetings, arranging appointments, representing Bridge in absence or with
Expansion Director - Ordering
stationery and furniture, dealing with correspondence, complaints and
queries, preparing letters, presentations and reports, supervising and
monitoring the work of other
administrative staff - Ensure
contracts, insurance requirements, and government regulations and safety
standards are followed properly.
Office, Nairobi with all finance and admin-related tasks, including but not
limited to:
- Assisting
running Uganda payroll, for both HQ and Head Office staff, ensuring PAYE,
NSSF and other tax compliance; - Managing
mobile money payments systems; - Keenly
tracking payments in Uganda, scanning, emailing, copying receipts,
vouchers and other financial documentation; - Managing
supplier relationships, e.g. IT equipment, landlords, etc.
Nairobi with all HR related tasks, including but not limited to:
- Managing
HR files in Uganda; - Ensuring
accuracy of HR policies and procedures and staff adherence to them; - Preparing
Contracts for HQ and Academy level staff; - Assisting
and/or leading induction of new staff in Uganda; - Assisting
with creation of 1-3 year recruitment plan for Uganda and recruitment of
those staff; - Dealing
with grievances and implementing disciplinary procedures & developing
with line managers HR planning strategies which consider immediate and
long-term staff requirements; - Finding
and organizing international staff accommodation; Organizing transport, accommodation,
etc. for visiting international staff and visitors;
Academies in Uganda is a small but rapidly growing team, the Office Manager
will be required to engage in any other duties as assigned by the Expansion
Director, as and when required.
- The
Office Manager should hold a Bachelor’s Degree - At
least two years of post-undergraduate, full-time work experience,
preferably in office management, finance or HR - Excellent
written and verbal communication skills - Outgoing
and engaging personality; high energy and enthusiasm level - Results-oriented
with a “can do” attitude; willingness to do whatever necessary to get the
job done - Excellent
communicator and team player; can strike an instant rapport with people
from all different walks of life and background - Excellent
time management and organization, very detail oriented - Past
exposure and experience working in rapidly changing and demanding work
environments - Significant
experience working within low income communities or slums - Past
experience managing large groups of adults from diverse backgrounds - Past
exposure and experience and knowledge of financial, HR and administration
system
