Foundation (SUFO)
leading youth civil society and development organization, incorporated as a
nonprofit company limited by guarantee, and working in the Acholi region, Northern
Uganda since 2009. The organization has been at the forefront of youth
empowerment, participation and development in the region, and internationally,
and has significantly contributed to some of the most crucial legal and policy
efforts in Uganda and African region. In 2009, a few months after launching its
extraordinary and innovative youth programme, the organization participated in
the development of the East African Youth Charter on Human Rights and Good
Governance, an initiative spearheaded by African Youth Trust (Nairobi) and
strategic allies in the East African Community member states.
represented Uganda at the African Union conference to develop and validate the
Decade of Youth 2009 – 2018 Plan of Action, and the Plan was later approved by
the Conference of Ministers of Youth Affairs in 2011. Prior to the Uganda’s
General Elections in 2011, SUFO worked closely with Uganda Youth Network and
key youth civil society organizations in the country, and developed the
National Youth Manifesto 2011 – 2016, led the popularization of this manifesto
in Acholi region, and got several local politicians to commit to implementation
of this manifesto when elected.
Partnerships Officer will be responsible for the overall coordination,
planning, development and management of a public and private sector fundraising
and partnerships strategy to mobilize resources, build lasting partner
relations and support accountability and management of transparent
contributions to Summit Foundation (SUFO). The CPO will also be responsible for
the analysis and management of all fundraising channels and activities,
ensuring long-term, flexible and unrestricted resources for SUFO operations and
programmes. In addition, the CPO will assist SUFO Board of Directors in enhance
its image and visibility among civil society, corporations, donors and the
governments, locally and internationally.
- Responsible
for implementing coherent resource mobilization efforts through
maintaining dialogue and strengthening relations with major partners,
managing donor agreements and expanding the donor base. This position
plays a key role in the determination of SUFO resource mobilization goals,
plans and targets. - Offer
technical leadership for the design and implementation of a comprehensive
and strategic resource mobilization, sustainability and partnerships plan. - Work
closely with the Chief Finance Officer, coordinate implementation efforts
to achieve annual revenue projections for all SUFO programs at the Central
Office, Office of Civil Society Initiatives and Office of Health Services. - In
charge of the design and implement strategies for the identification,
solicitation, cultivation, stewardship, and growth of corporate, foundation, and major donors
fundraising and partnerships; - Conduct
research and analyse donor calls for funding applications including
tenders, expressions of interest and requests for proposals from the
public and private sectors. - Steer
efforts to create self-sustaining business model for SUFO. - Generate
excitement and energy around the SUFO mission and activities, encouraging
others to provide financial support to its Strategic Plan. - Support
the Board of Directors, the Chief Executive Officer, the Executive
Management Team and other fundraising
staff and volunteers to identify, cultivate and solicit charitable
gifts, and consolidate partner relations. - Develop
creative strategies for identifying and engaging diverse constituencies
critical to the organization’s fundraising goals, both locally and
internationally. - Manage
all grant writing and follow up of project proposals. - Ensure
proper planning, execution, and evaluation of development programs. - Organize,
coordinate and oversee special corporate events, fundraising activities,
and the Summit Foundation’s Annual Partnership Conference. - Take
lead of all advocacy and communications activities that increase SUFO’s
visibility and establish the Federation’s
relevance/credibility as a strategic partner for the government,
civil servants, parliamentarians and the broader public.
- The
applicants for the Chief Partnerships Officer (CPO) should have a minimum
of bachelor’s degree in commerce or business administration, or social
sciences, and an equivalent of 5+ years of progressively responsible
leadership experience in a major nonprofit company or division of a large
organization in the area of programme development, resource mobilization
and partnerships. - The
ideal candidate should have experience in partnering with an executive
team, and have a high level of written and oral communication skills. - Preference
will be given to candidates with an MBA in leadership and sustainability
and/or Post Graduate Diploma in relevant fields.
