About New Vision:
The Vision Group incorporated
as the New Vision Printing & Publishing Company Limited (NVPPCL), started
business in March 1986. It is a multimedia business housing newspaper,
magazines, internet publishing, television, radio broadcasting, commercial
printing, advertising and distribution services. NVPPCL is listed on the Uganda
Stock Exchange, with an expected turnover of over UGX 60 billion (FY
2010/2011).
Job Summary: The Sales
Supervisor – The Kampala Sun will mainly oversee, coordinate and maintain a
strong sales relationship with the distribution channel members with a focus on
The Kampala Sun newspaper in order to generate the agreed display, sales growth
and Circulation revenue targets.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:  
  • Generate
    sales plans, projections and strategies for The Kampala Sun in order to
    achieve the target sales and wastage levels
  • Identify,
    prioritize and set performance targets for all channel opportunities that
    maximize copy sales of The Kampala Sun at budgeted returns of vendor
    numbers, display levels and subscription innovations.
  • Responsible
    for daily channel interactions with at a minimum of 95% of points of sale
    (vendor, stand, shop and retail stores) through daily sales visits/calls
    to people manning these points to achieve eye level display, reader and
    vendor feedback, retailer relationships and motivations and relocation of
    stocks from low demand points to high demand points through the product
    shelf life of The Kampala Sun.
  • Actively
    engage distributors on daily basis to ensure they actively do field
    supervision and generate daily sales performance reports accurate enough
    to inform the next editions’ order.
  • Oversee
    distributor performance and loyalty by documenting their performance
    successes and failures in relation to set targets in order to generate
    evidenced performance evaluation reports on each of the Distributors for
    The Kampala Sun.
  • Compile
    and submit daily, weekly, monthly and quarterly market and intelligence
    feedback reports for The Kampala Sun in order to provide factors for
    market and sales growth action points.
  • Compile
    and continuously update contact data bank in order to effectively manage
    network relationship and strengthen their loyalty to The Kampala Sun
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:  
  • The
    ideal candidate for the Sales Supervisor Job Opportunity should hold an
    honors degree graduate of Marketing, Business Administration, Statistics
    or any other relevant discipline.
  • Excellent
    sales and negotiation skills
  • Initiative
    and enthusiasm
  • Possess
    excellent communication and people skills
  • Good
    planning and organizational skills
  • The
    ability to work calmly under pressure
  • Possess
    a valid and clean riding permit
  • Willing
    to work long hours without supervision including on public holidays and
    weekends
