Administrative Officer
for East Africa (IUCEA) is a strategic institution of the East African
Community (EAC) responsible for the development and coordination of higher
education and research in the region. Its mission is to promote strategic and
sustainable development of higher education systems and research for supporting
East Africa’s socio-economic development and regional integration. The IUCEA
Vision is to become a strategic institution of EAC responsible for promoting,
developing and coordinating human resources development and research in the
region. Currently there are 100 member university institutions, both public and
private from all the EAC Partner States of Burundi, Kenya, Rwanda, Tanzania and
Uganda.
Procurement Officer will technically support management in performing all
duties related to the procurement, conferencing/meetings, stores management
- Be
the chief custodian of IUCEA’s stores and stock - Receive,
review and process purchase requisitions from user departments in liaison
with Senior Administrative Officer - Compile
and submit procurement reports and correspondences - Compiling
tender documents for the Tender Committee and make follow-up - Guide
user departments on procurement guidelines in areas such as drawing
specifications and Terms of Reference - Conduct
regular inspections to assess utilization and control of supplies - Update and maintain IUCEA’s suppliers’
data base and records - Inspect and verify goods/services
delivered meet the specifications - Be
responsible for keeping stores record and carrying out annual stock taking - Offer
logistical support for meetings, travel requests - Expeditiously
follow up supply of goods and services - Perform
any other duties that may be assigned by the Senior Administrative Officer
from time to time
- The
Procurement Officer should hold a Bachelor’s degree in Purchasing and
Supplies Management or Business Management from a recognized university - Possession
of a Diploma in Procurement and Supplies Management will be an added
advantage - At
least five (5) years either in public service or a busy private
establishment
