Job Title:  Cashier
Organisation: Agency for
Technical Cooperation and Development (ACTED)
Duty Station:  Kampala, Uganda
Reports to:  Area Finance and Administration Officer
About ACTED:
Agency for Technical
Cooperation and Development (ACTED) is a non-governmental, non-political
organization which was started in 1993 which mainly intervenes in times of
crisis, either immediately (emergency and rehabilitation projects)or through
medium and long term development projects.
Job Summary: The Cashier
will be responsible for all safe  
activities.
Key Duties and Responsibilities: 
Currency Exchange: Ensure of having daily exchange rates of
currency;
Voucher & Cashbook: filling of voucher(s) & registration of
voucher in cashbook;
Payment: disburse payments for all items and services
which have been approved by the Area coordinator;
Safe & Cashbook checking: at the end of each day, the cashbook and the
safe should be checked and the balance should correspond;
Money Exchange Dealing: whenever needed, change money for the
cashbooks and register it in cashbook;
Money Transfer Dealing: registration and exchange of voucher
reference between Country Office and Area Office.
At the end of each month: the balance in the cashbook and in the safe
should be checked and the cash checking statement should be established and
signed by the cashier and her area coordinator;
Vouchers: responsible for ensuring quality of vouchers
through regular checks by the Cashier at the end of each month
Cashbook & SAGA: cashbook and SAGA should be checked before
closing the accounting month;
Advances: ensure the clearance of all advances for the
staff, before paying the salary;
Perform any other duties as
required.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience: 
  • The
    ideal candidate should preferably hold a Bachelor’s degree in BBA , BCOM,
    Accounting or Chartered Accountant with a professional qualification in
    either CPA or ACCA.
  • A
    minimum of three or more years relevant experience in accounts / Finance.
  • Past
    exposure and experience with NGO’s is an added advantage.
  • Be
    Highly motivated;
  • Possess
    the ability to travel frequently to the field and work under pressure.
  • Strong
    communications and interpersonal skills with evidence of ability to
    interact with a wide range community.
  • Must
    be proficient in English.
