Job Summary: The
Barclays Team Leader Clearing Reconciliation will be responsible for:
  • Delivering
    high and consistent levels of accuracy in handling cheque authorization
    process.
  • Monitor
    and control work flow in the department.
  • Intuitively
    review weekly extracts from team members under your control.
  • Oversee
    monthly extracts and forward to the manager for review before third day
    following end of month.
  • Actively
    monitor and authorize reversals on clearing differences and in house GL
    for previous day’s entries suspended, no outstanding for more than 2 days.
    Observe high levels of professionalism and integrity during daily work.
  • Supervise
    that cheque authorization is properly conducted same day and unpaid are
    reversed off same day.
  • Quickly
    resolve 100% of complaints within 72 hours and log all complaints to the
    helpdesk for audit and monitoring purposes. Get a reference number
  • Ensure
    that internal customers are served within the agreed SLA timelines on the
    same day
  • Ensure
    timely delivery in all back office processes and processed work is
    genuine.
  • Proactively
    take on any other duties assigned by the Manager/ supervisor.
 
Key Duties and Responsibilities: 
1. Processing / Data
scrutiny-75%-85%
  • Handle
    authorization of clearance cheques
  • Handle
    the reconciliation of clearance suspense accounts
  • Have
    good understanding of all Bank products.
  • Have
    good understanding of Bank procedures and policy to oversee Section.
  • Design
    snap checks for the department   to
    strengthen controls.
  • Work
    in liaison with other team leaders on issues related to customer service
    and processing of work.
  • Deliver
    high accuracy levels and conform to business policy and controls  framework
  • Deliver
    service in line with agreed business needs
  • Work
    in partnership with colleagues and proactively anticipate, respond to and
    seek to exceed the expectations of customers.
  • Attend
    departmental meetings to ensure issues are highlighted , discussed and
    resolved
  • Proactively
    contribute to embedding agreed change management initiatives in
    support  of process and quality
    improvements and cost reductions
2. Leadership and Management:
Team Working-10-15%
  • Develop
    and maintain a close working relationship with the entire team.
  • Maintain
    acceptable control on the SLAs and maintain effective communication all
    the time.
  • Assist
    the team Leaders and Management in delivering effective coaching of
    colleagues on best practice.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience: 
  • The
    applicants must hold a good university Degree
  • The
    applicants for the banking job should have End to End knowledge of the
    banking cycle – branch to the operations centre, foreign operations,
    Flexcube system
  • Skills
    in bank accounting & reconciliations
  • Computer
    literacy skills
  • Skills
    in People Development
  • Service
    Excellence
  • Drive
    for results
  • Skills
    in Performance Development
  • Good
    working knowledge of the clearing process, reconciliation, Bank products,
    Internal & Office accounts and Flexcube reports
  • Good
    knowledge and understanding of bank procedures and policy
  • Supervisory
    Skills required
  • Skills
    in Business communications are desired
  • Possession
    of an Operations Excellence Certificate Level 1 is desired
