Government’s mandate to fulfill the health obligations. The Health Service
Commission was a creation of the 1995 Constitution. Its establishment was a
recognition of the protracted efforts of Health professionals to have a
specialized appointing Commission which could be sensitive to their cause and
professionally tackle the peculiarities and unique issues inherent in the
Health Service.
- Intuitively
monitors usage of supplies and ensures timely initiation of the
procurement process. - Ensures
proper safe collection, handling and transportation of specimens (blood
units) to the laboratory; - Responsible
for undertaking laboratory analysis with utmost accuracy, interprets
results and send reports; - Requests
for essential equipment and supplies for use in the laboratory; - Ensures
laboratory equipment is secure, functional and well maintained; - Ensures
safety measures of staff against hazards; - Actively
participates in quality assurance in laboratory; - Participates
in research; - Imparts
knowledge and skills to the laboratory staff; - Ensures
that laboratory staff adhere to Professional Code of Conduct and Ethics; - Performs
any other duties as be assigned from time to time.
Laboratory Technologist should hold a University Diploma in Medical Laboratory
Technology or its equivalent from a recognized Institution.

Officers must route their applications through their Heads of Department, who
should be informed of the closing date to avoid delay. Head of Department
refers to the Head of the respective Institution of the Applicant.

Candidates who will present forged certificates are to be handed over to the
Police for appropriate action.
