About HSC:
The Ministry of Health has the
Government’s mandate to fulfill the health obligations. The Health Service
Commission was a creation of the 1995 Constitution. Its establishment was a recognition
of the protracted efforts of Health professionals to have a specialized
appointing Commission which could be sensitive to their cause and professionally
tackle the peculiarities and unique issues inherent in the Health Service.
Key Duties and
Responsibilities: 
  • Responsible for the proper collection,
    handling and transportation of specimen to the Laboratory.
  • Conducts routine laboratory analysis,
    interprets results and submits reports.
  • Participates in planning, directing,
    budgeting, coordinating, monitoring and evaluation of laboratory services
    in the Unit.
  • Actively participates in research and
    training.
  • Participates in policy formulation.
  • Conducts support supervision.
  • Manages and accounts for allocated
    resources.
  • Ensures that Staff adhere to the relevant
    Codes of Conduct and Ethics.
  • Manages and accounts for allocated
    resources.
  • Performs any other duties as may be
    assigned from time to time.
Qualifications, Skills and
Experience: 
  • He /she should hold a University Diploma
    in Medical Laboratory Technology from a recognized Institution. Possession
    of a Degree in Medical Laboratory Technology or Medical Laboratory
    Sciences will be an added advantage.
  • A minimum of three (3) years’ experience
    as a Laboratory Technologist.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal
    skills
  • Good team building skills
  • Exceptional counseling skills
How to Apply: 
All suitably qualified and interested candidates should strictly adhere
to the following requirements to avoid disqualification:
1. Complete all parts of the application form (PSF 3, Revised 2008), download here,
and submit three (3) copies for each post in case more than one job is applied
for.
2. On each application form the following must be attached;
  • Recent and original copies of the passport
    size photographs.
  • Copies of the academic and professional
    certificates.
  • Copies of letters of appointment, plus
    confirmation letters as it may apply.
  • Copies of Registration Certificates and
    valid Practicing Licenses for Health Workers who are required by law to
    register with the relevant Professional Councils.
3. It is emphasized that:
All applications should bear the name of the Institution, title of the
post and its reference number. (check at top of advert)
Applicants must state clearly on the application forms their contact addresses
and telephone numbers.
Applicants who are Serving Officers must route their applications
through their Heads of Department, who should be informed of the closing date
to avoid delay. Head of Department refers to the Head of the respective
Institution of the Applicant.

their original certificates unlaminated at the interview. Candidates who will
present forged certificates are to be handed over to the Police for appropriate
action.
