Government’s mandate to fulfill the health obligations. The Health Service
Commission was a creation of the 1995 Constitution. Its establishment was a
recognition of the protracted efforts of Health professionals to have a
specialized appointing Commission which could be sensitive to their cause and
professionally tackle the peculiarities and unique issues inherent in the
Health Service.
- Takes
lead of the administration function of the Hospital and takes lead in all
the administrative and support services issues. - Offers
guidance and technical leadership in the implementation of the Hospital’s
strategic and Annual Work plans. - Actively
participates in the mobilization of resources. - Provides
leadership in the preparation of the Hospital budget. - Supports
the Medical Superintendent in managing and controlling the use of
Hospital’s financial resources. - Approve
expenditure requests. - Account
for all the Hospital’s funds. - Responsible
for the security of all the assets of the Hospital including medical
equipment, plants, vehicles, buildings, staff housing, office and domestic
furniture, office equipment and domestic appliances, keys, medical and
other Hospital records, agreements, warranties, insurance policies,
receipt books, local purchase orders, and vehicle log books. - Responsible
for the security matters of the entire Hospital and shall be the
Chairperson of the Hospital Security Committee. - Supports
the Medical Superintendent in the preparation of documents and reports for
the Hospital Management Committees, the Ministry of Health and other
Government and Non-government and International Agencies. - Performs
any other duties as may be assigned from time to time
- The
Principal Hospital Administrator should hold Honours Bachelor’s Degrees in
Social Sciences or Arts or SWASA or its equivalent from a recognized
University /Institution Must have postgraduate qualifications in Hospital
Management or its equivalent from recognized Institutions - At
least six years (6) as a Hospital Administrator, three (3) of which should
be at Senior Hospital Administrator Level - The
candidate should also have skills in management, counseling, communication
and interpersonal skills.
