Government’s mandate to fulfill the health obligations. The Health Service Commission
was a creation of the 1995 Constitution. Its establishment was a recognition of
the protracted efforts of Health professionals to have a specialized appointing
Commission which could be sensitive to their cause and professionally tackle
the peculiarities and unique issues inherent in the Health Service.
- Receives
patients, registers admissions, discharges patients and registers deaths. - Offers
quality oncology nursing care. - Actively
participates in bedside oncology nursing procedures as a member of the
caring team. - Carries
out observations, keeps records and ensures their safe custody. - Keeps
patients comfortable, allays their anxieties and ensures a healthy
environment. - Gives
health education and counseling to patients and relatives. - Oversees
and accounts for allocated resources. - Ensures
that Staff under him/her adhere to the relevant Codes of Conduct and
Ethics. - Actively
participates in research activities. - Compiles
and submit daily Ward reports and hand over to in-coming shift. - Performs
any other duties as may be assigned from time to time.
- The
job holders should hold a Diploma in Nursing or Midwifery or Comprehensive
Nursing from a recognized Institution. - Past
working experience in Oncology nursing will be an added advantage - Possess
excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Officers must route their applications through their Heads of Department, who
should be informed of the closing date to avoid delay. Head of Department
refers to the Head of the respective Institution of the Applicant.
