Water Resources Planning and Regulation
The World Bank towards the cost of the Water Management & Development
Project. The Government intends to apply part of the proceeds for eligible
payments under consultancy services.
Support Officer will provide technical support to Component 1 of Water
Management and Development Project (WMDP) in order to improve coordination and
implementation of project activities under the approved work plan. Ensures
timely reporting, monitoring and evaluation of project activities. The Project
Support Officer will support the Component Manager in provision of
administrative and logistical support to the Project Team, coordination of
project activities, and component management and supervision.
Responsibilities:
- Offer technical support in the preparation
of procurement plans, work plans, and budgets under Component 1 of WMDP - Actively coordinate regular dialogue and
interactions among the project team, with the rest of Directorate of Water
Resources Management (DWRM) staff, project partners and stakeholders - Render support the DWRM project team to
coordinate, harmonize and integrate different activities in order to
create synergy and maximize benefits. - Work closely with the Procurement Officers
to ensure that procurement of various goods and services is undertaken in
a timely manner following the procurement plan and guidelines - Liaise with the Financial Management
Specialist to coordinate requisition and accountability of project funds - Actively coordinate field activity
scheduling and day to day implementation of project activities - Keenly track the general implementation
status in line with achievement of set targets - Offer support in the monitoring of
implementation and achievement of Component 1 objectives.
Experience:
- The applicant should preferably hold a
Bachelor’s Degree in Social Sciences, Development Studies, Economics or
related areas and a Master’s degree in any of the following: Project
Planning and Management, Economics, Management, Social Policy or other
relevant discipline. - At least ten years’ general experience in
planning, project management, or monitoring and evaluation. He/she should
have a minimum of three (3) years specific experience in preparation of
workplans, budgets and progress reports; coordination of projects; and
provision of administrative, technical and logistical support to projects. - Excellent track record of building the
capacity of teams and creating an environment of coordination. - Exhaustive knowledge of the country’s
water and environment sector is key. - Strong managerial, supervision and
leadership skills. - Good presentation skills in order to
disseminate information to Government Institutions and international
organisations - Excellent oral and written communication
skills. Should be fluent in English. - The candidate should have a high level of
interpersonal and management skills and ability to work with teams in the
organization at all levels. - Ability to work under pressure and tight
deadlines - Computer knowledge and skills in MS Word,
MS Excel and Internet/ Email is a mandatory requirement.
